I am almost reluctant to post a review about Palazetto da Schio in the Dorsoduro section of Venice for fear my praise of this lovely spot will mean there won’t be room when next I try to book into this “find!” There are four different and classically-furnished apartments to rent in this small palace on a quiet canal adjacent to... We have now returned for the second time to the Palazzetto da Schio, and are just as enthusiastic about it now as we were after our first stay here a year ago. Our apartment (we chose the same one both times) was on the top floor overlooking the garden and the tile rooftops of Venice--quite a view. And the neighborhood... More

It was our great good fortune to be able to join friends at the Palazzetto da Schio. Our apartment on the top floor of the palazzetto was the perfect accommodation for two couples, with spacious bedrooms for both and a grand living room between them. The kitchen was small but well equipped, entirely serviceable for breakfasts and light dinners --... More

The super market on the Zattere is going to change management in January, and it will be as good or even better than it is now! Thank you and I hope to see you again! More

The apartment (#2) was all that the Contessa promised: stylish, well appointed, tranquil and convenient for the Grand Canal, just across from St Marks. We received a warm welcome and a thorough briefing on the apartment and the Dorsoduro neighbourhood, including where to eat and shop from the Contessa da Schio, who lives in the Palazzetto and is and ready... We stayed in Palazzetto da Schio apartment from September 15 till September 22, 2014. Renting this apartment was one of the best decisions we ever made. The house is beautiful, easy to reach from any point of arrival. It is located in quiet aria and in the same time it is close to main point of attraction of Venice. The... More

I stayed at the Palazzetto da Schio for the first time some years ago, and was happy to come back now with friends. It was as lovely as I had remembered it. We stayed in appartment No.3 overlooking the canal, which is simply beautiful. We enjoyed having two large, tastefully decorated bedrooms with their own bathrooms plus an elegant, comfortable,... We stayed in a one bedroom. It definitely wasn't fancy. Bathroom was basic. People should also know that they are charged extra for utilities (ie electric, air conditioning), but it seemed to be a fair price. The apartment was in a nice, quiet location and it was roomy and very clean. The owner was helpful.

I'm sorry you were not as happy with your surroundings as I would have liked. I think I know which bathroom you were referring to and I agree it was "basic": in fact I had it redone in August and now, with Devon & Devon appliances and new lights, it is still not luxurious but much more inviting. It is... More

We were here for 5 days and were made to feel at home as soon as we stepped inside. We had Apartment 3 located on the top floor overlooking the canal and from there also had a wonderful view over the rooftops. The Contessa greeted us so warmly and showed us around the apartment and the garden with great pride... More

My husband and I were here several days in late May on the recommendation of friends who had stayed here on multiple occasions for longer periods of time. We had a top floor apartment facing the garden. It was spacious, light, and we enjoyed the garden and rooftop views. We found the location ideal. We walked to all tourist spots... More

It is hard to imagine that we would ever stay anywhere but the the Palazzetto da Schio when visiting Venice. This was our second stay in as many years and this visit was just as fabulous as the first. On this visit we stayed in the two bedroom apartment that is located on the top floor. It was comfortable, roomy,... More

I am always happy to take care of my guests, I understand that even a cold can be a big problem to solve in a foreign country and language. Webby has such a success with most of my guests that I am thinking about adding her to the attractions of Palazzetto da Schio! More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
