Fantastic! Lovely hotel with very friendly and accommodating staff and ideal central location. Water taxi back and forth the airport was a definite must, as was the gondola ride straight from the hotel dock - no trouble to book and no hassle. Had a lovely suite with a small roof terrace sun trap which was and extra treat to watch... More

Visited this beautiful boutique hotel for a romantic trip with my wife ! 5 minutes walk to The Rialto bridge and 5 minutes to St Marks square ! As you exit the hotel there is a shopping street to the left heading to the Rialto whilst going right leads to St Marks and various restaurants on your way. The staff... More

This hotel is sooo charming! Beautiful, big rooms but the hotel in general is small so all the staff get to know you and are very attentive to your needs. The views from the two rooms we had were incredible! And the breakfast was amazing!! When we were checking out we said we wished we could stay longer and the... More

We stayed here in May before setting sail on a mediterranean cruise. The hotel staff were very courteous, the rooms were nice and the location was excellent. We enjoyed the complimentary afternoon wine and cheese as well as the breakfast. In fact, the breakfast turned out to be my favorite meal of the trip.

Apologies to The Aqua Palace Team for our delayed review. We visited in May 2014 during our European train-boat-car-plane Honeymoon Voyage! Yet again we were not disappointed. We were very kindly upgraded and greeted with prosecco and strawberries. The hotel itself still looks like new, as when we first visited in 2010. The staff are just brilliant, nothing is too... Family of four stayed in a suite - perfect! Beautifully appointed hotel. Lovely to walk into at the end of a hot crowded sightseeing day. Luxe and inviting decor. Breakfast was standard but plentiful. Would have given it 5 stars except for poor sound insulation in our first floor room which meant waking up to sound of deliveries and street... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
