Al Duca di Venezia is a very good hotel, well located you can go by foot to Saint Mark Plaza. The hotel has a good breakfast, not so many option, but is very good. Clean room and it is located in a quiet street.

At first, it was not easy to find the location. however, once you know where it is, there is no problem..even there is a short cut to the boat station that google map couldn't find. one tip to find the location of the hotel is to search (or ask for the people) where the Natural History Museum is. The hotel... More

My partner and I stayed at this hotel for one evening prior to leaving for a cruise from the city. It's always hard to find a hotel in Venice as they can be quite expensive and you're never sure what you're getting for the price. We were pleasantly surprise after taking the elevator up to the top floor and having... More

Staff emailed in advance which was very polite of them. Location is kinda ehhh but that doesn't matter when the island is so small. Room however was a literal sauna. Had to sleep naked and still woke up sweating one night. Had to leave the bathroom fan and fill up all the basins with water in order to counteract the... More

A friend recommended this hotel. It's hard to find when you get off the vaporetto -- but EVERYTHING in Venice is hard to find. Just ask for the Natural History Museum; it's next door. We had the beautiful suite with incredibly high ceilings and a balcony with a view of a lovely little bridge and a peek at the Grand... More

My husband and 2 children booked this hotel on Wotif as part of our trip in Europe without knowing too much about the hotel, we found one that had a quadroom for a great price that didn't seem too far out of the way. I have to say how happy we are to have stumbled on this hotel - the... More

Stayed at the hotel owned apartment Canelleto ( 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and small kitchen) a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The housekeeper escorted us to the apartment from the hotel, very quickly pointed out the first bedroom and the kitchen then left to go back to the hotel. She did not check if everything is working in the... More

I booked this hotel online many months before actually arriving, and upon arrival we were told that we'd booked an 'external bathroom', which I'd completely forgotten about. Our bathroom was upstairs and through a 'covered way' outside the building, to a room through another door. The bathroom itself was lovely and we were the only guests with a key to... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
