Stayed at Hotel Al Duca Di Venezia for 4 nights with my cousin during our stay in Venice. We travelled from Rome termini station to Venezia Santa Lucia. About a 10 min walk from station to hotel. Would suggest anyone with large luggages to get a porter service or take water bus (not sure how much they cost but available... More

Our room was a family room. The king bed was very comfortabel, but the sleeping sofa was not that good to sleep on, not for grown ups. The lady at the reseption gave us good advice about places to eat, and also how we could walk around and go by boat in Venice. Breakfast was also good and the WIFI... More

Our stay at this hotel was perfect. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by friendly, helpful staff. The rooms were comfortable, pretty, well air conditioned, and quiet. I highly recommend the location as it was located in the residential section away from the crowds but easily accessible to the public boat, restaurants and sites. Breakfast was delicious with a variety... More

I booked a 3 night reservation (superior room) after reading such positive feedback about this hotel. We were not disappointed! We enjoyed this hotel so much for its comfort, relaxation, location and helpfulness of staff. Our room was beautiful and very large with air con, fridge, safe etc. Front of desk were happy to help with any questions and recommendations.... More

We had a very good stay at Hotel Al Duca in Venice. Our room was comfortable. Each day, breakfast is provided in a dining room. You get lovely coffee such as cappuccino or espresso, choice of fruit, pastries, meats, cheeses, cereal, and so on. Our room was kept up very well each day by the house keeping staff. The front... We stayed in their Tiepolo apartment in June 2015. It's a great deal, located in a quiet residential area yet within 10 minutes to walk from Rialto. They offer good breakfast, and have a very friendly and helpful staff. Clean, modern, comfortable. We loved it and would love to come back!

Lovely clean hotel in a great quiet spot. Easy 10 minute walk into busy touristy Venice. Plenty of restaurants along the way and water taxi pick just 30 metres a away. The staff were very nice and helpful. Special mention to Michelle on reception who went well out of her way to accommodate our needs, very appreciative and recommend this... More

Good hotel. The most helpful staff we encountered on our entire trip of seven hotels. Also it's a little quieter in this part of Venice. Still within walking distance of everything, but not so many tourists as other areas. Good restaurants close at hand, and an interesting museum right next door. The water bus stops nearby, or if you want... More

The Hotel Al Duca Di Venezia is a small hotel situated a short stroll from the pier outside the Fontego dei Turchi. A private (expensive) water taxi from Marco Polo airport (not booked through the hotel), will drop you at the pier and then it's a 2 minute walk to the hotel, which is situated on the left. Ring the... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
