Lovely clean hotel in a great quiet spot. Easy 10 minute walk into busy touristy Venice. Plenty of restaurants along the way and water taxi pick just 30 metres a away. The staff were very nice and helpful. Special mention to Michelle on reception who went well out of her way to accommodate our needs, very appreciative and recommend this... More

Good hotel. The most helpful staff we encountered on our entire trip of seven hotels. Also it's a little quieter in this part of Venice. Still within walking distance of everything, but not so many tourists as other areas. Good restaurants close at hand, and an interesting museum right next door. The water bus stops nearby, or if you want... More

The Hotel Al Duca Di Venezia is a small hotel situated a short stroll from the pier outside the Fontego dei Turchi. A private (expensive) water taxi from Marco Polo airport (not booked through the hotel), will drop you at the pier and then it's a 2 minute walk to the hotel, which is situated on the left. Ring the... More

This hotel has fantastic reviews but didn't see what they all saw. First of all, the staff is fantastic. They were polite and helped us several times to make our stay pleasant. However, we were "upgraded" to a superior room on the third floor which turns out to be the old attic. Our room was very small and only had... More

Could not have asked for a better stay in an amazing city! We were welcomed by the beautiful Alice at reception who was so helpful and friendly so it was a great start. Perfect location as it was away from crowds so very quiet at night to get a good nights sleep. Being near the Museum of natural history it... More

Our third visit which says it all. Situated in Santa Croche so nicely quiet away from the hordes this 3+ star hotel does everything so well. Wonderfully furnished rooms (some classic ones can be quite small), a neat a well run modest breakfast this hotel is just perfect for a short stay/week in wonderful Venice.

We arrived to a friendly welcome and quite early although our room was ready. The red room which we had asked for, was everything I could have dreamed of, we had to cancel last year due to my husband having an accident so I had to wait a year to see this room and it was worth the wait ,... More

My parents and I stayed here for 2 nights and really enjoyed our time here! It is very convenient to access from the train station by vaporetto (follow the instructions given on the hotel's website), although you will still need to carry your luggage up and down one bridge, but that's typical for Venice. If that is a problem (such... More

I will give a five star review for this three star hotel. I do think it is more than tnree stars. 15 minuntes walk from the train station and 25 min from piazza san Marco. After all Venice is about walking. A very nice, neat, clean and beautiful place. The staff will go the extra mile for you. I do... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
