Although the accommodation was spacious and central, there is room for improvement. The plumbing was poor ( water flow, heating, smell), noise insulation was poor (we could hear people walking outside at night) and breakfast was minimalist.

Stayed there for a few nights with a couple of friends. Fabulous location - close to San Marco. Very friendly staff. Beautiful room which would have suited a couple better than 3 people but it was very nicely decorated and made us all feel at home. Our room was next to the kitchen so we were lucky to have breakfast... More

This place is located close to san marco. Very nice! The staff is very friendly, specially carla. The room is quite big with a canal view. We had a nice bathroom with enough towels for the whole weekend. They provided us with a city map and some tips! Great

Good location of the hotel, nice staff. But the room we had didnt correspond of what was expected when looking the website. We had a kind of appartment which was very cold and internet was not working. The breakfast was really poor also. I think in this b&b either you're lucky and you get a room which is on their... Palazzo minelli has a great location; it's just 1 mn to the la fenice teatre and within 5 minutes you're at Sn Marco. We stayed there for 4 nights at a double connecting room on the first floor. Our room had a canal view , it was wonderfull hearing the gonodolas singing and passing by. Matteo with a very warm... More

We have rented a 2-rooms ensuite apartment at about 170 euro per night per apartment. Pros: Provides value for money accommodation in Venice. Rooms come with small canals view. Location is strategic as it is just 10 minutes walk from St. Mark Square. Cons: The B&B person did not email us to check on our arrival time. When we arrived... More

I have given this a very good on balance because of location and cost, but this is not a luxury B&B. Some of the pictures in other reviews, we never got to see, we never saw the reception area, as we had a room at the very end. We had our 'own front door' leading to a flight of stairs.... More

Pros: We loved staying on a quiet little canal that was just a short walk from the hustle and bustle of St. Mark's Square. It was easy to see the main attractions, but it was also easy to get off the beaten path. Matteo greeted us warmly and offered us maps and restaurant recommendations. The breakfast (croissants, toast, coffee, and... More

Familiar treatment and cozy atmosphere, you can imagine yourself living in the Venice of the eighteenth century. Mateo and Giovanni help you about any doubt or recommendation that you could have. It is located just a few seconds away, walking of course, from 'La Fenice' and 3 min from 'San Marco'.

Good location for sightseeing near St Marks square. Quaint building and room. Room spacious with lots of storage space. Breakfast was served in the room - adequate but not excellent - croissant, juice, French toast and coffee. Nice view from the room over a canal - not so good at 6 in the morning when the freight traffic started with... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
