We absolutely loved this place because it was so quaint and made us feel as though we were experiencing an authentic piece of Venice. It's actually very close to San Marco Square and easy to find if you look on the map and follow the map to La Fenice Square. Be sure and book a concert at Teatro La Fenice... More

The accommodation at Venice from 28 May (Thursday morning) to 30 May (Saturday early morning) was at the Palazzo Minelli, San Marco 1878/A 30124 Venice Italy, Phone: +39-340-197-6581. Palazzo Minelli is a 500-year old property just overlooking the St Luca Canal. We reached there from the airport via a water taxi(speed boat) that took almost an hour. This was a... More

Just returned from a visit to Venice for The Biennale and related Art shows etc.We have stayed in Venice before at various venues, some good ,some not so good. This place falls into the basic but really good value category. One of the best things about it was our hostess Eugenia, who met us from the Vaporetto when we arrived and was most... More

Me and Becky stayed here for a weekend away and were very glad that we did. All the staff were friendly and helpful and gave us excellent advice when it came to places to eat and see. The room was traditional however had aircon, tv and wifi (which is fast) and the bed was one of the comfiest I have... More

Would agree with some comments that this place can be difficult to find at first, and the steps are a bit trying when you first arrive with luggage, but other than that we couldn't fault it. We stayed here in April 2015 as a family of four and had an amazing time. St Marks Square is an easy walk and... More

We got the room on 3rd floor which was canal view. Room was excellent and very big. The shower area was a little small but other than this it was a great room. Breakfast wasn't great so we decided to go out instead. Venice in general was hard to find good breakfast options.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights recently and really enjoyed it. We had seen from other reviews that it could be difficult to find so we made sure we looked at the map before we arrived. It was only a short 5 min walk from the San Marco Giardinetti water bus stop (which was really easy to... More

The property can be hard to find on arrival. Matteo was glad to meet us in St Marco piazza and escort us to the property. We thought his service and attitude was amazing. The room was a little small but good value for money. The property was built in the 15th century and has been restored. We thought it was... More

A lovely, clean hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful and had an abundance of information about things to do and places to go. In the morning we were treated to a lovely continental breakfast in our room and the lady who brought it couldn't do enough to help. Great value for money, would definitely recommend.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
