We had pre booked stay at Venice Museum hostel for 18.Feb, today afternoon i was informed by mail that "Venice Museum hostel has recently broken and we have been told that it is unsure as to how long it will take to fix it. Therefore the hostel is unable to accommodate guests at the time until the problem has been... More

This hostel it self was not very nice it had just cots in some big rooms with no place to keep your personal belongings if you wanted to keep them safe. The people who worked there were very nice (minus the girl who runs it) and made us have a really good time there. The family dinners were really good... More

The most unprofessional service I have encountered in over 3 months of travel throughout Europe. Staff did not assist with information re: the area and services, and the rooms and bathroom was filthy.

Great location.Disappointing when you are charged an extra €5 for "clean" linen (in fairness the charge might be on their website and I did not see) and you find bed bugs on your bed. Also booking an 8 bed dorm room to have + 9/10 people in their is unbelievable.

We stayed at this hostel for 2 nights, it wasnt too bad, but not what i expected from the pictures / reviews i had read. It was dirty, i'm pretty sure the showers had black mold too, beds arent the best, but we didnt have any bed bug problems like i have read. the 5 euro dinner is actually pretty... More

A Venice Museum is in a great location and that's about it. The staff was generally incompetent, the showers were cold, and the floor apparently has a permanent layer of dirt coating its surface (despite its 'daily cleaning' during the lockout, which, incidentally, was inconveniently early for those of us who don't wake up at the crack of dawn). They... More

If you have no agenda, no time schedule, no need for cleanliness or sleep, and no need for security, you might find this hostel OK or even enjoyable. I, however, did NOT. Here are a couple of highlights of my stay at A Venice Museum: 1) We had called the day before to see if we could check in at... More

Sounds like this place has changed a bit since I stayed there, i didn't have to pay for my sheets and dinner was included every night, I didn't get lost trying to find the place but I'm sure i was partly to blame for that (i got lost in Italy alot!) The room was very simple but clean and on... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
