We loved this place, we stayed for 4 nights in Nero, the middle of the 3 apartments with 2 adults and 2 children (10 and 13). The photos of Al Campanile's web site represent it well, it is spacious and clean with a little bit steep stairs to 1st floor. Proper sized double beds with decent mattress. Our apartment with... Stepped off the ortho station coming from the airport via Ali Laguna, took 10 steps (well maybe 20) and voila, right there is the entrance and the beginning of a most enjoyable week-long stay. We had the Rossi loft ( the smallest of the three) and it was perfect for a family of four. Absolutely loved everything about this place... More

There are a few precious tips that can make visiting Venice incredibly enjoyable instead of very frustrating. For me it is a quiet place to stay and feel like a local; close restaurants that offer great food at reasonable prices; short walks to places of interest; gluten free eating & grocery options; and in Venice.. a minimum number of bridges... We have like 6 girls stay into one house, and it fits just right. The garden is well decorated, I went there sometime around Christmas. Even inside the house, they have put in some Santa Claus and the reindeer decoration, and I really like them. The kitchen have all the cutlery, plates and cup ready. And there is a huge... More

We had a lovely room. Staff exceptionally helpful and friendly. Very quiet part of Venice but enjoyed exploring the area and finding hidden gems for eating and enjoying afternoon ambience. Free shuttle to St Mark's square but the last one returns at 6pm so if you want to stay out you'll need to organise other transport. Also the limit is... More

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Rosa apartment for 2 nights last week and we are so pleased we chose this accommodation. Hossep the owner is friendly, efficient and very helpful. The apartment was in a perfect location for us. It is right next to a Vaporetto boat stop which we used twice. The rest of the time you... More

Family of 5 stayed for 4 days in ROSSO appartment. The place is very clean, well equiped and safe. Great location as near a Vaporetto stop and not in the tourist crowded area. Also, it's Venice, you can walk anywhere from there to all the crowded tourist locations. Groceries nearby allow you to cook your own meals which is great... More

First, let me start out by thanking Hoessep, the property owner. He made our entire stay easy and comfortable, meeting us at the water taxi and being available at all times. This hidden oasis is literally steps off of the water taxi. It was a mirage to come home to after a day walking around in Venice in hot July.... More

The 4 of us stayed 2 nights. Each us of had a bed or sleep sofa. The place was immaculate. It was so close to the water taxi stop that we walked by it and had to come back. It is the first entrance way after entering between the buildings. A 10-15min walk to one of the main paths to... More

We are just finishing three nights here and it's a terrific place to stay. We wanted something quiet and spacious and out of the tourist frenzy. The apartment rosso was perfect. Clean and roomy. Even had a bathtub. We enjoyed being in a real neighborhood. If you like to walk then this is a great location. And it's just steps... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
