No heating no hot water, nothing!! They provided free breakfast but maybe the should rather invest in heating!! Very bad hostel!! They said to us that the heating would work the next day, but after we have read the reviews thats what they always do apparently!!

So..my bf and I spent 4 days and 3 nights in this hostel. The room was good, very comfortable, we had free wi-fi, great location - near the center (5 min walk to the center). The only problem was the heat, and that wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't WINTER! (it was supposed to be automatic heat that turns... More

Myself and my boyfriend stayed here while we visited Venice over the New Year. We wanted somewhere cheap but still nearby all the sights and this place seemed perfect. The hotel is very easy to access, just a 10 minute walk from the Sant Angelo Vaporetto stop (Orange line from the airport). The only difficulty we had is that the... More

The interior of the hotel is good. No boiler in room so that's a disadvantage but there is a coffee machine installed in the common room and anyone can use it. Heater was hardly working so we had to use extra quilts. It is a 5 min walking from accademia boat stop. Overall an average hotel where you can save... More

While on a motorcycle trip in Austria decided to spend one night in Venice. Found this hotel on line and after reading other travelers reviews made a booking. I made sure that I had the address and directions correct since the hotel was in one of the hundreds of small, narrow streets (more like alleyways) near one of the many... More

We stayed a couple nights in September. The room and bathroom, (which was very small), were clean. You can hear some noise from the neighboring bedrooms, just the door opening and closing, some chat, but nothing particularly annoying. The neighborhood seems to be residential, which was nice. We were traveling only with carry on luggage so we had no problem... More

It's nothing flash, but it's comfortable, modern, clean and well maintained, I was pleasantly surprised. Getting to Ca' Contarini takes you down to a more local area, which at night was intimidating for me, but once we found it (which is tricky, make sure to look at the photo of their front door, it was the only way we found... It was difficult to find this place but the room we were in was a separate private building with a shared bathroom with one other room. It is fairly quiet and comfortable. The lighting could be better though, it was a bit dark with one light working and a lamp light. The breakfast was a bit too early and really... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
