Venice can be a challenging (although breathtakingly beautiful) city with children. Built around a really quiet garden, the Venice Nice apartments are the perfect place to take a break from the touristy bits of Venice. Fantastically located (two mins away from shops, restaurants, transport) and very well set-up (living room, kitchen, bedroom) these apartments are really comfortable, tastefully decorated and... A little walled garden everyone is talking about... What's the big deal? If that's your thought, you've probably never been to Venice. We could REALLY appreciate this one - on our previous trip here we rented a very different place: a former attic, with broken A/C, 35 C inside, and the owner's only response was that we were idiots for... A quiet location in Castello, though close to the busy Via Garibaldi as well as to the Biennale, a splendid walled garden, a well equipped apartment, a helpfull owner. Summing up, if you like to go to Venice, you do wise in considering this appartment!

Tried to review this last year but failed and hope that this will be shown. The four bungalow type apartments are completely private in a walled garden and we visited for the this year in October for the second time, we were so impressed on our first visit last time. The apartments range from a two bed apartment, which we... More

A friend recommended this apartment and it is fabulous though not luxurious. Spacious, user friendly and well equipped, so it quickly becomes 'home'. Shopping nearby - small supermarket, some market stalls and other retail outlets. Even buy wine in bulk ! Container provided, wine is good 'quaffing' quality at very reasonable cost (located at end of canal). Quiet location, yet... More

VeniceNice apartments. If you are considering Gianni’s apartments in Castello Venice, consider no more. This is a place we stay in every year and I am very proud to say that my wife and I have become addicted to Gianni’s beautiful garden, a wonderfully situated property. It’s surrounded by very Friendly local people, wonderful food and all at reasonable prices,... More

Good apartment with a good garden within easy walk of all amenities, shops, restaurants etc. Good to have a garden to eat out & relax would have liked a couple of loungers to relax after hours of walking about. Had problem with hot water which was quickly resolved. Would have liked the internet access as advertised but lots of bars... More

We were met promptly by Gianni and shown this beautiful apartment with a lovely peaceful garden. It is close to the ferry and to shops and eateries, and a local ,market which sells fresh food. What a lovely place to spend time after a busy day surrounded by tourists in this beautiful city. A real gem!

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
