The location of this hotel is very convenient to all the sights, the canal and the railway station which was convenient to us because we are catching a train to Florence tomorrow. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. Our room is comfortable but very small and is in a new part of the hotel not joined to the... More

Just returned from a weeks stay in this fantastic hotel. From the moment we arrived the service and welcome was excellent. Our room was beautiful with its own terrace overlooking the Grand Canal the perfect place to unwind after a hard days sightseeing watching all the boats go by. We would definitely return thank you to all the staff.

This hotel was a recommend, and we had read previous reviews on trip advisor. The service from the staff at this hotel is amazing, nothing is too much trouble. We arrived by motor launch, which drops you at the outdoor eating area, straight into the hotel reception from where you are shown to (in our case) was a beautiful room.... More

We stayed last summer for 5 nights, a very warm welcome, beautiful room and the staff were amazing, they couldn't do enough to for us. I would thoroughly recommend. Bellinis on the veranda over the canal, amazing sights to be seen. Breakfast was second to none with a typical cold breakfast but the quality couldn't be faulted! The staff booked... More

Not only is this hotel charmingly Italian with excellent service provided by a superb staff, the location can't be beat. Literally a 3 minute walk to the nearest vaporetto stop or an 8 minute walk to the train station. Breakfast is top-notch quality with an excellent variety of meats, cheeses, fruit, yogurt, granola/cereal, breads, etc from which to choose. (Don't... More

We arrived very early and the room was already ready. We had a wonderful view of the Grande Canal from the third floor. The room was clean with all necessary amenities. In the morning we had the continental breakfast. All of the food was freshly prepared. The hotel staff was very helpful with dinner suggestions and other questions that we... More

Coming off a tour of Turkey including the Gallipoli Centenary Celebrations we were in need of a rest and this hotel provided it. While not in the main hotel, rather in an annex attached, the room while small was clean, ornate and comfortable. The room abutted a small open area back from the Grand Canal - so if you wanted... We loved the Hotel Canal Grande. it is located by the water, it's a bit hard to find but once you are there it feels so lovely. The hotel features a complimentary breakfast, it has good Wi-Fi, and its so conveniently located near the train station. The staff was super friendly, helpful and extremely nice. They arranged a visit to... More

Hotel was really awesome. The staff there was especially friendly. We stayed there for 2 nights and the staff was able to provide us everything we want. Breakfast was really good too. If you can wake up early you can get a spot outside the patio and enjoy the breakfast viewing the canal. Would book the same hotel again next... More

Loved this hotel. Very close to train station. Overlooking busy Hotel Grande. Staff was very very helpful! They upgraded our room, gave us hints about sightseeing and directed us to fantastic restaurants, which are difficult to find in Venice. Breakfast was also outstanding.

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
