We spent 2 nights in this hotel for our wedding aniversary. Initially, we had some confusion with the room we had reserved but the receptionists (in particular Mr Davide and Ms Luciana) were extremely helpful and pleasant and we ended up having an amazing time! Great room, very clean, amazing service! Very good breakfast. Reception staff always willing to help... More

This hotel definitely did not feel like a 4 star hotel. The room air conditioning was terrible. We had to sit in the lobby or the second floor to get any decent wifi connection. They don't have 24 hour porter service so if you checked out or in before the porter started his shift you'd have to carry all your... More

This is a hostel and not a hotel. Service is at its worst. Electrical systems go in tilt and turn the AC to heat "automatically" in the middle of the hot summer night. Elevators have no sensors, so be prepared for the doors to crush you or your luggage. All staff leaves at 5pm, so make sure to get your... More

Myself and my husband have just returned from a 5 night stay and we had a fantastic stay. We arrived early but our room was ready for us. The lady on reception was very helpful and gave us a map and advised us where we were and times for breakfast etc. The hotel offer a free trip to a glass... More

A water taxi pulls up to Hotel Palazzo Giovannelli’s own little jetty on the Grand Canal and you step into a romantic, dreamy hotel. The hotel, hidden in a little street away from the tourist shops, is quiet at night but still situated within a handy walk of Venice’s two most popular areas, Rialto and St Mark’s. If you want... We took the regular water taxi to the hotel which is right next door. upon arrival the interior was very nice and staff were very nice. I also had a special were we had a private boat to the glass factory out on Murano which I forgot about but was great to get in a taxi just for us shuttled... More

We stayed for three nights before going to the lakes. The hotel is clean and comfortable. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful if you are friendly to them.the breakfast lady is a little icy, but thaws when you say please and thank you - I think they have to deal with some fairly unpleasant tourists. What we... More

Hotel situated right next to a water bus station "Stae" for convenience. (When you get off the water bus, go left over the bridge, right, and left down a small alley) This hotel is located a little further in than the crowds. We had a standard room and it was very nice and clean, though alot of furniture in it,... More

My husband and I stayed here for two nights as part of our euro trip honeymoon. We absolutely loved this hotel! We visited four other European countries and this was the nicest hotel we stayed at. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They were accommodating and offered us useful advice on where to eat in Venice. The room was... More

We had booked two rooms for a group of us travelling. We booked the attic room, knowing that it was going to be "small" and a second room. Upon arrival we were met with a friendly staff member who checked us in. We were shown to the rooms and were warned by the man showing them that the two rooms... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
