The hotel is very nice. The room was lovely albeit a little small by US standards. The bathroom was nice with wonderful soaps, shampoos etc. The man working the front desk was and absolute JERK!! We asked about a water taxi to the airport at 5:00am the next morning, he grumbled and said he could set it up. We asked... More

The hotel is in the perfect position on the Grand Canal. The staff were pleasant. We had an amazing room overlooking the Grand Canal. The bed seemed bigger than a normal king size and the bathroom had a spa bath, shower, and bidet. Breakfast was good - continental or English breakfast buffet style. The only downside was there wasn't a... More

This hotel is right by the canal but has only 7 rooms facing the canal. So good luck getting a room facing the water. The night staff is very good and accommodating. Not entirely sure about the day staff. Our room was on the 5th floor which means you take the elevator to the 4th floor and then haul your... More

Very nice property, excellent location near a water bus stop. Stayed in a junior suite with grand canal view. It wasn't a balcony (which we knew) but had great big windows that opened up over the canal. Room was wonderful with well appointed updated amenities mixed with old Venetian touches throughout. Small bar on the property was perfect and bartender... More

We stayed here for 2 days and we enjoyed our short stay. Reception area were really helpful. Our room was an attic looking room and not enough space but we were ok with it. The only thing that was HORRIBLE in August was the AC - it didn't work as well to cool down the room. I called the front... More

Stayed two nights at the end of a tour. The attic room is a joke. I'm just under 6 foot and couldn't stand in half the room. No wifi and broken Bar fridge. I needed a fridge for medication. Three rooms in our tour had the below letter. They obviously had time to do these laminated letters JUST FIX THE... More

very confused about the good reviews. this hotel is in need of updating and more amenities. our room was spacious, but falling apart. furniture and bed coverings were dirty. there were big cracks in the marble floors. we had to be careful not to step on the little pieces with our bare feet. the wifi was terrible...and unlike other hotels,... We are very satisfied with this hotel and our stay in Venice. The hotel was very fresh and new. The staff was helpful, polite and kind giving us a lot of good tips and taking good care of us. The room was totally new, clean and very comfortable. We slept really well. The only thing that was not on the... More

Hotel was part of our trip so we did not choose ourselves, however could not have chosen better. Perfect location for us. We could walk to Rialto and then on to San Marco. Staff were all very hospitable. Room was perfect and beautiful. Would love to go back again.

This hotel is pretty perfect. It is located on the Gran Canal, right next to the Vaporetto stop of San Stae: 4 stops from Piazzale Roma and the railway station, 3 stops from Rialto, and about 20/25 minutes from St Mark's square. The staff are delightful and helpful, and the room we had was beautiful. Breakfast was adequate: a nice... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
