My husband and I stayed here for two nights as part of our euro trip honeymoon. We absolutely loved this hotel! We visited four other European countries and this was the nicest hotel we stayed at. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They were accommodating and offered us useful advice on where to eat in Venice. The room was... More

We had booked two rooms for a group of us travelling. We booked the attic room, knowing that it was going to be "small" and a second room. Upon arrival we were met with a friendly staff member who checked us in. We were shown to the rooms and were warned by the man showing them that the two rooms... More

Very good location in historic atmosphere. Direct vapporetto access. Some of the staff were friendly, some unfortunatly not, but no one gave us this warm welcome Feeling we are usually used to in Italy. I asked for a room upgrade in advance, which was confirmed but not granted, Room was nice and very clean, unfortunatly our aircon in our room... More

Excellent, excellent, excellent Hotel!! I traveled by myself for a short trip to re-visit myself with Venice after 10 years and I'm so happy that I stayed at Palazzo Giovanelli. I arrived at the train station from Rome and took a 10 min ride by private taxi (found right outside the exit of the train stationin venice) directly to the... More

We arrived my grand daughter and i to a very friendly welcome. The room we had was very clean and overlooking the garden, only one problem was that we had no bath only shower and that flooded the hole floor of the bathroom ,the toilet seat had a split in it but to be fair we did not complain as we... The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was modern and clean. We liked the location which was close enough to the action but far enough away from the crowds. We got dropped of at the hotel dock by a water taxi. The morning breakfast was good.

We found a large room, terrific service, a good breakfast and friendly hosts on the Grand Canal, and far enough away from St. Mark's and the Rialto bridge for some peace after hours. We were welcomed, in late morning after our overseas flight to Venice, by staff who helped us plan our afternoon as our room wasn't ready, then moved... More

We stay here for 4 nights, one as the final night on a tour and three extra nights. We booked the extra nights some months ago rather than moving hotels during our Venice stay. As a 4 star hotel it is only average. The most notable thing was as you walked into the room through the entry door, less than... More

This was the last hotel we stayed in at the end of a great tour through northern Italy and we honestly felt as though we were a bit second-class. We were stuck up in the attic or so it seemed, where there was no wifi and one had to be careful not to stand up too quickly unless you hit... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
