Very good location to explore Venice. Basic rooms and facilities. Do not expect 5 star type facilities. However we enjoyed the stay and will use again if we decide to visit Venice again. Good experience of life the Venice way

Everything was like I imagine before arriving ; so the hotel was in harmony with this serinissime city. I give a 7 on 10. People working at the hotel were very kind. One of the thing who can be better is the way to arrive at this hotel because it is not really aisy to find.

This hotel is just 2 small bridges from the bus depot. The staff were great. There is wifi and it is very fast. there is a small fee , however the speed makes up for it. Water pressure was great . The windows and shutters give you openness and privacy. The views are great , pay for the balcony. Breakfast... More

This place is great for those of us who don't want to drag a suitcase all over Venice....which is definitely NOT a suitcase friendly place. The hotel staff were pleasant and the facilities were OK....bed comfortable, room size smallish, wifi good but not free, breakfast was reasonable. It's main advantage is the location, but all in all a good place... More

Walking into Hotel Canal is like stepping back in time, but in a good way. Quirky interior, but the location and included breakfast are ideal. Close proximity to the Vaporetto, which easily takes you down the Grand Canal.

Upon our arrival, the hotel staff made everything easy for us. They came up and explained the room. They were able to provide us a room, overlooking the Canal and was a short walk from the train station. The room was 18th century style, but with modern bathroom amenities. The area was quiet to pedestrian traffic, and always had an... More

Nice room with authentic Venetian style decor. If you are used to new and polished rooms then you might not be comfortable here. If you like authentic and comfy then this is right up your street. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was adequate and set in a Venetian style room. No issues to worry about. Would stay here again

We were quite worried about the stay due to reading some of the other reviews, but were very surprised at what we experienced. Perfectly located close to bus and train stations with very good access to the cruise liner harbor. Only one bridge to conquer with your luggage. We were allowed to leave our luggage at reception until our room... More

if you book a room with canl view ask for room 114. it is quite difficult to have it because it is a triple but if it is not already booked you can ask it. the bathroom can be a little small but the view you have from the balcony is super. The hotel is very close from everything. Everything... More

The host was very very rude, they charge extra for wifi, the rooms are old and with broken walls, the rooms nor the bathroom are not clean at all, the blankets have lots of stains and I even got an insect inside the bed. I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all, I'm not exagerating it is the worst experience I've... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
