My family and I stayed at Ca' Pagan for 2 nights and had 2 rooms in this 6 room hotel. The hotel is in a great location (for people taking the water taxi, get off at S. Samuele on the 2 line) and is beautifully decorated with a wonderful and attentive staff. On top of it, the rates were very... More

We booked this place for a 3-night stay in July based in part by previous reviews and pictures of the quirky rooms. Overall, we weren't disappointed. The Location: it was quite easy to get to from the train station using the Vaporetto (water taxi). Just follow the instructions on the hotel website (or reservation email) and you'll be fine. You'll... More

We stayed at Ca'Pagan for three nights last week while on a break to Venice. Pros: - Location: Ca'Pagan is really conveniently located, just 50 metres from the San Samuele Vaporetto stop on line 2 - so no lugging cases over lots of bridges and steps! It's also ten minutes' walk from the Accademia, fifteen minutes' walk from St Mark's... More

This was a last minute booking for me, my arrival on my own was a bit eerie, it was very easy, but I found how quiet it was a little creepy (it gets way better). The amazing night staff helped me settle in and his assistance never stopped. Anywhere he could help, he would! The room was decorated so over... More

We had a great stay at Ca'Pagan. The room was very clean with fresh towels every day. The staff was so helpful and friendly. Nice breakfast. Walking distance to all main 'attractions'. All in all positive, I would recommend it to everyone, especially couples.

Ca' Pagan is on a small street, just steps away from a water-bus stop, so easy to get to on the #2 vaporetto from the train station. Rooms are decorated in old elegance (a touch on the shabby side, but I say that with great affection). Shortly after we arrived, a bottle of Prosecco on ice was delivered...not sure why,... More

TA gave us courage to try this hotel and we wish we hadn't. It was just...odd. You felt a little like you were in someone's home renovated into a hotel, but maybe like it should have stayed a home. Everything was small- small rooms, stairwell, bathroom, etc. Cramped, felt too close to those going into rooms not in our party.... More

Ca' Pagan is nestled in a quiet street that is easy walking distance from Piazza San Marco and Rialto, and is right next to a water-bus stop, so anywhere else in Venice is accessible. If you are looking for slick, modern accommodations, this isn't the place. The furnishings and fixtures look like (and in some cases probably are) antiques, with... More

Second Honeymoon - awesome service, amazing rooms, hardest part was finding the place. We stayed during Carnivale 2013 and are still talking about the great time we had. If you're looking for a romantic getaway in Venice, this is the place.

The Ca'Pagan is a lovely hotel, just steps from the San Samuele Vaporetto stop. It's a quick walk to San Marco Square and to the Ponte Academia. With just six rooms, it is intimate and quiet. Lots of marble, silk covered walls, a very traditional Venetian decor. There is no lift, but the staff are happy to assist with heavy... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
