We stayed at Ca Pagan for 3 nights in February 2016 for Carnevale. Before arriving, the hotel manager provided us with very clear directions and options for reaching the property, as getting around can be difficult in Venice. We had a simple breakfast everyday in the dining area (coffee, tea, toast, meats and cheeses, granola, hard boiled eggs). Our room... More

Stayed for 5 days in November. Beautiful family owned hotel. Each room is individually very beautifully decorated. It is a short walk to the water bus. Several restaurants are a short walk away. Convenient walk to all sightseeing destinations. The greatest asset the hotel has is it's wonderful staff.. They are all warm and accomodating, they make you feel like... More

The service is weak, does not help with luggage and do not have many suggestions for good restaurants in town. Also we had a very bad experience on the first night because we woke up with bites all over the body, which appeared to be flea. We had to change rooms because of it, which is situated to a side... Dear Mr. Carlos Eduardo V, usually whoever is on duty at the reception do helps all guests arriving or leaving at carrying the luggage, so we are a bit surprised about your complaint about this, but this is a bit difficult to remember as your stay was in July. What we do remember very well is the issue regarding the... More

Excellent little hotel--the room was beautifully decorated with classic Venetian glass, velvet, beautiful furniture. Huge bathroom! Free breakfast was adequate; staff was superbly friendly and happy to make cappucinos to order! The hotel provided excellent directions to find the hotel upon our arrival, followed up by a comprehensive 15 minute overview of Venice, complete with recommendations, upon our arrival. The... More

Finding the right place to stay in Venice can be time and money consuming. But Ca' Pagan is one of the (very) few places where you can find an elegant place, in the right location (a few steps from San Samuele vaporetto stop), for a convenient rate. As other rewievers have noticed, the style of the decor might not be... More

Spent a very quick four days in Venice at a work event - essentially a short-term course. Booked at Ca'Pagan without knowing really anything about the city or the hotel, but needed something reasonably priced and central. I was concerned about directions - a colleague of mine wrote to them in Italian to get info, and we got very detailed... More

First off, Venice is just lovely. Picked a good time of year with fewer tourists. We arrived at the hotel tired and out of sorts and Marty (sic?) at the front desk was fantastic. Helped us to our room and started a complete description of where we were and where to go. Lovely dinner based upon his recommendation and the... More

We stayed in the Ca Pagan apartment across the pavement from the front of the hotel. It was perfect for our family of 4 - double room with ensuite for us and a double sofa bed for the teenage girls in the living room. There was also a sofa bed in a further small bedroom which one of the girls... More

We were given the Casanova room which had a pristine royal look. The important landmarks in Venice can be easily reached by foot and also the waterbus station is very close. The hotel staff is very polite and helpful.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
