Visited Istituto Canossiano early, last summer, with a group of 20 or so, adult students. Rooms were spacious and clean and adequately appointed. Communal kitchenette served our group well, especially those who chose to shop and prepare food in house. Courtyard was lovely and quiet. Dorsoduro location was convenient to vapporetto, shopping, cafes, restaurants, museums, churches, all that Venice offers.

i was attending a summer program at Ca Foscari University and the Istituto Canossiano was recommended. I didn't know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. I couldn't quite see where it was on Google maps, but it turns out that the directions on the website are excellent (this is Venice -- what else can they say but "at the... More

I had a lovely few days here in November. Beautiful quiet location, good sized rooms, en suite bathroom with shower (plenty of hot water and towels). The rooms are basic but clean, and beds comfortable. Would recommend its central location - easy to access public transfer and good restaurants/bars nearby. For groups of 10+ they will arrange and serve a... More

Stayed a few nights in October with a group. It is a wonderful old convent; quiet, with a beautiful courtyard. Rooms are monastic and small, but adequate, with a nice desk and shelves. However, there were some serious problems: (1) 2 of the 4 people in my group were bitten by bedbugs; (2) while you could open a door to... More

It was very great and all was very clean. I think when you want something in Venice good go here. The garden was very nice but after going there I had much of mosquito prints. The room was very big and the beds were very soft. You had to go 5minutes till Canal Grande.

Great location in Venice. This is a convent but they operate as a hotel. The place is lovely, friendly, impeccably clean, and spacious. I had a single room with a single bed (very comfortable), desk, wardrobe, fan, windows opening onto a canal (!!!!), lovely, modern bathroom with shower, sink, bidet, toilet, and another view of the outside canal! The convent... More

I stayed here for a week in July while attending a Summer School at the university. Quiet, clean, calm, cool - perfect - and if you have mobility issues they have ground floor rooms. There is a kitchen you can use and a beautiful courtyard to relax in. Don't be put off by its hostel or convent tag - it's... More

We were placed here by a conference and were very pleasantly surprised. We stayed 6 nights and had no wish to move. Although apparently an active convent, our room was spacious, with a new ensuite bathroom and a glass door opening onto a large flowery courtyard or cloister, part of secret Venice that you never glimpse from the outside. There's a... More

I stayed here for 2 weeks in May while I was in Venice on my own. It is a lovely, quiet monastery in the beautiful Dorsoduro area-close enough to the top sights but in an area where you can see Venetians rather than just tourists: "the real Venice" as the gondolier told me. It is on the Rio delle Eremite,... More

I don't know what the picture is of mountains that appeared on this site. There are buildings and canals all around were I stayed. For Venice this is a reasonable priced, clean and quiet place. Information can be found on the internet under Canossian Institute [ --XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX-- ]. The rooms were a really nice size, with private showers. They accomodate... More
