Just stayed here during the horrific Venice heat wave and this place was awesome. Don't believe the other bad reviews. I stayed with 2 kids in the apartment annex and it was spacious, clean, and very cool. The outlets even work with standard Euro E/F and the location is great. Close to San Marco but away from the crowds. Terrace... More

Where do I start? This hotel came highly recommended by a friend and colleague. I can only think that it is now a vastly different hotel than when she stayed here. In all of the many hotels I've stayed in, and of the 6 places we've stayed in Italy this trip alone, Palazzo Paruta is THE WORST HOTEL I'VE EVER... More

We travelled to Rome, Florence and Venice and stayed 3 nights in each hotel. The Rome (Delle Nazioni) and Florence (Hotel Pierre) hotels were wonderful, with friendly staff, great locations, and delicious breakfasts. Unfortunately, we did not experience the same hospitality at our hotel in Venice--Palazzo Paruta. When we checked in, the front desk clerk said that our room was... More

Stayed her for 3 nights for my 50th, we had a huge bedroom and very small bathroom on the 1st floor overlooking the canal. The room was beautiful and overlooked the canal and it felt very special arriving over the bridge and directly into the reception. The small back garden was alive with colours and the setting looked amazing. The... More

My wife and 2 teenage boys stayed in an one bedroom apartment operated by Palazzo Paruta. It was terrific. Modern and fully refurbished style in a 17th century building. Super clean and very spacious, (about 1200 sq. ft.). It included a full kitchen. Our apartment was on the second floor with a small balcony overlooking a Plaza. It is very... More

The Paruta is a beautiful old Palazzo with its own separate bridge leading to the small lobby area. The rooms are elegant but a little tired. We had a quaint room that looked directly onto a small canal; so Venetian. The wifi while free was very slow and TV limited to 5 channels, all in Italian. But so what? You... More

Once we found it (and it wasn't easy) we were hot and bothered- from the concierge to all staff we met during our 2 night stay- could not have been kinder or more helpful. The room was striking in its red and gold and the bathroom beautifully appointed. Everything worked well, they found me needle and thread before I'd even... More

Stayed here a couple of weeks ago on a 4 day break with some friends. This is a lovely hotel tucked away in the corner of St Angelo Piazza (square). You are only 5 mins walk from St Marks square , and all the shops etc. My only gripe is that our Standard Double room was tiny, with no storage space,... Our triple room was large and very comfortable. The staff were very helpful. We got great restaurant recommendations and one man took time to help us plan a day trip to Verona. The location is perfect for accessing the city. San Marco seems a lot more crowded than San Polo but Palazzo Paruta is tucked at the back of a... More

We stayed 4 nights to celebrate my 40th birthday. Having researched various hotels, this beautiful truly lavish traditional Venetian styled boutique hotel lived up to and exceed our expectations. The decor, the comfort - mattresses and pillows were incredibly comfortable - the service, the location, the quality of food... all fantastic! Just 10 minutes walk to both Rialto and St... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
