Great location, a short walk from the Vaporetto stop, friendly people, incredible view of the canal right outside our window, pretty courtyard. WiFi didn't work for me, but it did for my wife (didn't really matter - we had a portable hotspot, and I had a data plan for my phone - both of which worked fine). Very accommodating about... More

Staying in Venice is expensive. But why come to Venice if you don't stay on the island? If you've got a HUGE budget and can splurge on one of those super pricey rooms, go right ahead. I prefer to use that money on some cicchetti, A LOT of espresso's and spritzes! If you're like me, you're going to LOVE Ca'... More

I came here with my wife on our honeymoon. We chose Ca'Querini because of the price and the location. Some people have claimed that the facilities are in disrepair or filthy. We found that this was totally not true. Our bathroom was clean and everything worked well. The rooms were clean and very large for the price and we had... More

While in a quiet neighborhood, this bed and breakfast was a great disappointment. It is in much need of repair, the bathroom was molded badly and had a shower that leaked water all over. We also had to buy bug repellent as Mosquitos bit us and our friends a lot during the night. Not a very pleasant sleeping condition.

Great location close to San Marco Square and all the activity! We made the mistake of wanting to walk there to take in the beautiful scenery - don't do that, it is further than imagined and of course with luggage and the bridges its no fun! Do take the water bus! We were greeted by a very friendly lady on... More

I searched an accommodation that is easy to access from the airport, is close to the center and at reasonable price. For me was the price for the studio 6 acceptable. We came by bus at the water bus stop and went at San Marco. In total 1hr. You need to walk about 10mins to reach the place (well desribed... More

The location was 8-10mins walk from San Marco. The apartment was spacious (bedroom, hall, kitchen, toilet) and well maintained. The breakfast was good. But the Wifi hardly worked. The guy who was at the reception when we entered was in inebriated state. He really scared us by entering the apartment at 8:30pm from the backdoor (for some internet problem), while... More

My husband and I booked this hotel weeks in advance, and chose the hotel because of the price and nearby location to our friends' hotel. 10 days before our reserved date, the owner called us, and in broken English told us the room was no longer available. She refused to give an explanation. She said she could find us a... More

I don't understand the favorable reviews of this B&B, our experience was very unpleasant. Don't stay here if you need wifi, because it does not work. There was no manned reception desk either. This place is overall not suitable for international travelers who need assistance at times. For example, when we couldn't get the old lock to work after grabbing... More

Easily accessible from the vaporetto station. Make sure you carry a map. Directions are clear, but Venice is confusing to the uninitiated. Clean rooms, lovely view of a canal in an authentic lived in suburb. Sufficient goodies for an Italian morning snack. High ceilings, and spacious main room. Built in kitchen. San Marco is only about 10 min away. BnB... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
