Decent basic room. Bed is comfortable and room is reasonably quiet. Very difficult to find - we were lucky to run right into the guy in charge of the hotel (otherwise you will have to call a number or check in at another branch - a nightmare with a heavy suitcase). There's also a huge flight of stairs (like anywhere... More

You check in at a hotel, and they guide you to the "apartment" a short* walk away. We weren't expecting it to be quite so far, but it only felt that way when we were wearing our backpacks/luggage in the hot sun. The apartment we stayed in was basically two rooms separated by a small hallway and a single door... More

I really didn't know what to expect at Venice Resorts but found it to be great for our family of three. As noted this is not really a hotel nor an "AirBnb" but kind of in-between. You check in at the Hotel Tolentini but then you get guided to a nice building about five minutes away and introduced to your... More

We had a nice room on the fourth floor. The location was a 10 minute walk from the main train station and 5 minutes from Piazza Roma bus depot which was handy for our bus trip back to the airport. We had to check-in at the Hotel ai Tolentini which is at a different location approximately 5 minutes away, but... More

Checking in is at a different location than the apartment, however it is not that far from the apartment itself. I was travelling with friends and we had a lot of luggages, there is no lift service at the apartment so we had to carry all the bags using the stairs. The stairs may look old and creepy, but we... We stayed here for one weekend. The room wasn't big, but we had enough space for 2 persons. This place is situated nearby Piazza Roma so it was easy to get there when we arrived quite late. The area is rather calm, so we had a good sleep at night. when there sleeps a family with children next to your... More

AngusLoveOurWorld review hits Venice Resorts spot on (except we had no problem with hot water). The reception was wonderful--walking us to our rooms through the streets. A light breakfast, good wifi, two fabulous restaurants right across the street were all nice touches to our stay. The room was clean, a picturesque view of a small canal and plenty of outlets.... This hotel made are stay in venice a dream. The hotel was just walking distance from the airport bus station where everyone was dropped off from. The hotel was just over a short bridge. The hotel had everything we could ask for as far as amenities and made our stay perfect. check in time at the hotel was not till... More

Ok, Venice Resorts is my funniest hotel experience... FOR 30 YEARS. Don't worry. Room is clean; Roof is stylish. And, it's only 10min walk from Piazza Roma or bus terminal. But, you got to verify every detail of check-in procedure before you go. (if you book online, don't email. make the call). Venice Resorts is under a small coop of... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
