Could not fault this hotel or the staff. We were very lucky and had a room overlooking a canal and were wakened every morning by the gondoliers quietly singing as they passed by. Room was very opulent and the staff could not have been more helpful. No hesitation in recommending this hotel and the directions posted by the gentleman a... More

Very pleased we stayed at the Ad Place. The location is excellent. It's in a central position to St Marks square, Rialto and Academia bridges- all 5 min stroll in each direction. Perfect quiet place to get away from crowded St Marks. In each direction there are also lots of restaurants/cafes to choose from and cheapest are down little alleyways.... More

We stayed in the AD place in February for a long weekend. We picked it because of the great things people had to say about it and we were not disappointed! The location is ideal, tucked away down a quiet street just a short stroll from Piazza San Marco, and also very close to the grand canal, particularly the Giglio... More

Stayed 2 nights in June. Pretty easy hotel to find from the Water Port. Great interior and design. It's an old building with a cool interior design flair. Room was good size and our room opened up to the side of the canal. Each day we awoke in the morning or from a nap to the sounds of someone singing... More

We enjoyed our two night stay at the Chic Ad Lofts two bedroom Apartment. Staff were friendly and helpful, couldn't have asked for more. The room has a balcony that overlooks the canal with the gondoliers riding down the canal, with some singing and playing music. Access to shops and restaurants was great. Staff stored our luggage after checkout so... More

Dear guest, It makes us very glad to know that your stay has been pleasant and the service has satisfied your expectations. Concerning the air conditioning in the second bedroom, unfortunately, the tapestry of that room is very ancient and it cannot be removed or touched; for this reason, it is not possible for us to place a second air... Had a very nice stay here while in Venice on business. Centrally located, nicely decorated, not unduly expensive. Was given an upgrade when I arrived to a double room, which was very nice, but turns out the air conditioning wasn't working. Thankfully it was not so warm as to be unreasonable, but if you're going to stay in the Septemmbre... More

Two of us stayed here from 5-7 June. The hotel is centrally located but just far enough off the beaten path (canal?) to be quiet. Decor is idiosyncratic but entertaining and certainly made us smile. Everything is spotless and room servicing is second to none. Breakfast was varied and delicious. A real bonus was the lounge area with complimentary coffee... More

This hotel is just behind the "Fenice" ,a very nice place right in the center of Venezia. The hotel has nice rooms that are all differently furnished and decorated. On the top, there is a terrasse where you stay during the day or having a drink. Nice breakfast. It is a hotel where I felt like at home, the personal... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
