This is a wonderful quiet, clean, calm and elegant guest house. The location is excellent being 5 mins walk from Fondamente Nuove and about the same to Rialto. There is a local fruit stall 50 metres away and a local coop supermarket, good for buying Italian biscuits and cake at local prices. Aleksandra and her son are so friendly and... More

We had a room that overlooked the canal. It was beautiful. Everything was clean and fresh. The property was excellent. A little out of the way but when in a busy Venice its great to leave the noise behind. The hotel made great restaurant recommendations and the woman who serves breakfast does a great job. The food was great and... More

We really enjoyed staying in this hotel. It's very small (about 6 rooms) and out of the main tourist area, so you felt more like you were among the locals. Even so, it was convenient to all the popular sites. The staff was very helpful and friendly and gave us tips for getting around the city and recommended local restaurants... More

We stayed here for 3 nights. The B&B looks better in person than it does in photos, and we had the (or one of the) room/s with a romantic canopy and pink everywhere, which was kind of fun! Both the room and the bathroom were a good size and very clean, especially considering it was Venice. The toiletries were lovely.... More

Fresh off a very long plane ride from Canada, we were so thrilled to find Alla Vite Dorata. The directions given on the website were extremely easy to follow, and we arrived at the hotel without incident - it turns out this was a major feat, as we spent the rest of the two days completely lost in Venice! The... More

We stayed here for 2 nights in June. It was in a perfect position, next to a canal, within walking distance of the major attractions and also close to 2 vaporetto stations, while still being in a quiet area so we didn't miss out on any sleep. Breakfast was good and very relaxed. The proprietors were very welcoming and really... More

My wife and I stayed here for three nights to celebrate our 25th anniversary. It was a big milestone for us and we wanted to make it memorable. Now, we both agree that we made a right choice choosing Alla Vite Dorata. The hotel is located in Canareggio, a quiet part of Venice, which was very easy to find. We... More

We stayed for 3 nights in May 2015. A wonderful experience! The owner and her son are such a pleasure to interact with. This six-room hotel is in a great location, a quick walk to a waterbus stop (with no bridges inbetween). I highly recommend staying here. I want to do back!

My husband and I stayed here for two nights. The location is really quite but very centrally located and near several vaporetti stops. Lovely breakfast included, really helpful staff - definately recommend!

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
