Everything was perfect. Giorgia&Enrico are great people. It was like we stayed in our home and they were our family. 10 10 10! Next time I will not have any doubts about where to stay in Venice. Thanks for all guys...

Great location, warm welcome, lovely twin room, comfortable beds, small but immaculate en-suite, amazing decor, platter of sweets, quiet. Oh and a warm room to return to in December chill. Will return in the summer to enjoy their pretty courtyard garden.

We arrived easily from the train station using the directions Giorgia sent by email. From the outside the B and B doesn't look like much, but once you enter you realize that this is truly "a find." Giorgia was very welcoming and the house is just lovely. The room I shared with a friend was large and comfortable (I think... More

We stayed in Venice for one night and although we spent less than half the time in this B&B, it was very memorable. The first thing that surprised us was how spacious it was. We had seen the photos when researching on the place and thought it was just good photography but it really was spacious! The room we stayed... More

We arrived late on a Friday for a two night stay at the Antico Portego and the hostess Giorgia answered the doorbell and showed us around. We were immediately impressed by the old castle-like settings, and the room was great as well! The complimentary Prosecco was a very nice touch! We stayed in the junior suite with an amazing painted... More

Although we stayed here for one night, it have left a deep impression on us. Do not be fooled by the old red door, behind it is a warm and cosy B&B. It was clean and the rooms was spacious. The bathroom was even equip with massage function which is great after a long day of walking. The owner, Georgia... More

Stayed here for 3 nights. There were 4 of us. We had 2 double rooms. The rooms were very spacious with Murano chandeliers. Bed was super comfortable. The bathroom & shower was nice. My husband and I spent 5 nights at this very comfortable guesthouse in a wonderful neighborhood. Georgia, the owner, is a very committed young woman who did her very best to make our stay such a memorable experience. Our room was spacious, very clean, and exceedingly quiet. Georgia happily accommodated requests for breakfast, and she and her charming boyfriend gave... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
