Alessandro is the most helpful b&b owner that I've encountered. He met us at the canal when we first arrived in the water taxi, and continued to be supportive throughout the trip. He gave us a thorough orientation and loaned us two books about Venice. I got very ill and ended up in the hospital, so he let us keep... More

This wonderful B&B is located close to the Rialto bridge, fish and vegetable markets, easy access to water taxis, while at the same time on a quiet side alley. Alessandro, the owner, is very knowledgable about all things Venice! On his suggestion, we got the tourist transit card which gave us access to the water taxis to travel around Venice... More

Just spent 5 days in Venice staying at Ca'Barba. Wonderful city, wonderful B & B, and wonderful host in Alessandro. Met from the boat and given good advice as to where to go and where to eat...perfect. Ca'Barbara is situated in a very convenient location . Couldn't have found anywhere better

Alessandro makes this B&B the very best experience one can have in Venice. He does love his city and wants to do all he can to assure that you do too. He frequently drew excellent little maps of specific places we wished to go. They were always "spot on".The B&B is in an excellent location; it is very clean, comfortable,... More

Our stay at Ca' Barba was terrific. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and breakfast was very good. As all have mentioned Alessandro was awesome to deal with and he really made our stay in Venice. Venice is very busy even in the off season. Alessandro gave us recommendations that made our stay enjoyable. I am not sure we... More

Thanks to you Matt, Amber. Thanks for your review, for your kindness: you are very nice guests. Thanks also because i think that your review may be exhaustive: 1) the Acqua alta = high tide, is not dangerous… 2) the high tides causes very limited inconvenience: the only thing to do is to be patient and wait for few hours... Alessandro and his B&B will make your stay in Venice a delight. Alessandro is one of those rare hosts who truly cares about his guests. Alessandro met us at the vaporetto station and helped carry our bags to the apartment. He is in love with Venice and his recommendations on where to go and what to see will enrich your... More

Out of 2 weeks of traveling and 5 accommodations, Ca'Barba was by far the best place I stayed. The owner Alessandro is amazing- he met me at the vaporetto when I first got to Venice and walked me to the B&B, he also gave me numerous tips and materials on what to see and when to see things in Venice.... The location of the B&B was surprisingly closer to everything than we expected. The morning market was very convenient and close. Rialto bridge was around the corner. Great communication with host. We visited August 2013.

What a wonderful stay we had in Ca’Barba! This nice and centric B&B hotel is located very close to Rialto bridge. It was so pleasant to leave the hotel every morning and being on a two minutes walking distance from Rialto market and bridge, where we could get to know the daily venetian lifestyle and enjoy the most breathtaking views... Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
