After reading some of the previous comments on this hotel, I was a bit reluctant to choose to stay at the Marte. However the price was ideal and we decided to give it a try. I should say, that our stay was surprisingly good and pleasant!! Ok, If you have an issue with three flights of stairs then yes it's... More

We were redirected here from another hotel which could not provide the room we had booked due to flood damage, so we did not know what to expect. It turned out to be fine. The en-suite room had all the usual facilities and everything worked properly. The beds were comfy, there was enough storage, the Wi-Fi signal was good, etc.... More

The staff are rude and unfriendly...we had to change our own table cloth, get our own glasses, as the bottle of water and can were just dumped on the table. We had to send back food because it was cold and also came back cold. Portion sizes are tiny for the price and the food was average. We only choose... More

Fortunately didn't stay in this hotel but if our experience in the restaurant is anything to go by I will avoid it like the plague. We waited 45 mins for half of our orders to arrive and another 10 waiting for the other half. The staff were rude and unapologetic and refused to knock anything of our bill when we... More

In what many readers consider the finest walking guide book to Venice (or indeed to any city), the late J.G. Links writes: "We continue as far as the great Canareggio bridge which we cross and gratefully find the Hotel Marte at the corner with its few chairs and tables for us to indulge in our aperitif. Now for our favorite... More

This place met our criteria: budget (Venice is expensive) and within easy walking distance to the train station. The property is dated and needs updating. Our first night was terrible because our room had two windows that overlooked the Lista di Spagna - the main tourist walkway. After a sleepless night we requested and were provided a room on the... We were hoping to watch some local tv in the evenings while relaxing in our room. No tv on the entire floor. Problem was repeatedly addressed with staff. Also wifii only available in the lobby. Good location but overpriced.

+ location is extremely comfortable! right in the central path to any sight, 3 minutes from the train station, very easy to find + everything necessary for the short stay (shower, toilet are ok, nothing unexpected) + clean room, channel view + nice park on the back-side of the hotel + very quiet place - horrible fish-like smell at night.... I just ate at the restaurant attached to Hotel Marte and felt totally cheated. The food was mediocre and the price for the meal at the end was shocking. I've spent many months in Italy and been to hundreds of restaurants here and rarely feel aggrieved like this. Avoid.

we stayed here for a couple nights early Oct 2013. Yes its small and maybe closer to a hostel (20-30 youths were checking out when we arrived) BUT you are in Venice. If you want to enjoy your room looking at canals go elsewhere, but if you want a place easy to get too with suitcases from either the vaperettos... More
