We have just returned from 4 nights at the Due Principi and cannot praise it highly enough. On the doorstep of central Venice, it nonetheless is a haven of peace, overlooking a quiet canal with the odd drifting gondola. Room was spotless and appeared to have been newly decorated, with a range of facilities and the breakfasts were extensive fresh... More

Hotel Ai Due Principi was perfect for our trip to Venice. It was located on a quiet canal with our rooms overlooking the water. The rooms were large with comfortable beds, beautiful bathroom and great decor. The staff was helpful and the breakfast was very good. We stayed one night and wish we could have stayed longer. We highly recommend... More

Just returned from a 3 night stay. The hotel is easy to find using the directions on the website and also from Google maps. We were greeted by the wonderful Deborah (I hope that is her name). Who was unfailingly helpful and friendly (note to management - whatever you are paying her, it isn't enough. She is an excellent ambassador... More

Dear Guest, Thank you very much for your excellent review! In fact the location of our hotel is closed to everything: Saint Mark's square and Rialto bridge are situated just few steps far from our structure. We would be pleased to meet you again in our beautiful city! With my personal regards, Deborah More

It was Feb Festival in Venice which was great so much to see I mean dresses. I wanted to dress up as well but it was like $500 for a dress so I give up on that thought. Its a fair bit of walk from parking. We did see a lot walking around, I will recommend offline Google Maps of... More

Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your experience at our hotel with the readers of Tripadvisor! Yes, carnival is a special period of the year here in Venice! You walk in its small streets and it looks like you go back in time! We hope you will keep all these good memories! With my kindest regards, Deborah More

We divided to take a long weekend in Venice - and found this Hotel. Great position to explore the City, good rooms, clean, very helpful service. Initially its a bit tricky to find but just ask in a restaurant.

Dear Guest, Thanks a lot for your nice review on Tripadvisor. The location of our boutique hotel is strategic: five minutes far from St. Mark's Square and ten minutes (even less!) from the world known Rialto Bridge. Don't hesitate to contact us for any future stay with us! With my warmest regards, Deborah More

We stayed in room 105 for four nights in early December. The hotel was easy to find using the instructions on th web site, and the welcome on arrival was vey pleasant. Our room was large (6m square) and the bed was most definitely king size. The decor was impressive and the bathroom substantial and well fitted. We were very... More

We had two great nights here in November. Everything went to plan, staff very nice, friendly and helpful. Room exactly the one we booked and in great condition. Breakfast was fine. And the location was perfect just minutes from the water taxi drop off and very close to St. Marks square. We need to revisit Venice and we will book... More

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights before a cruise in October and were not disappointed. The couple that was travelling with us got a smaller room than ours but were also pleased. We stayed at this lovely hotel for 2 nights in October and enjoyed our stay. The location is wonderful - walking distance to most major sites in Venice, but off the beaten path enough that it's not noisy. The view out our window was magical. The staff was friendly and very sweet. I agree with a previous reviewer who stated... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
