This lovely hotel is located 3 minutes from St Marco Square and a couple of minutes from Grand Canal and San Zaccaria boat stop. The room was very comfortable with a very generous bathroom. Well maintained and clean with extra bedding for chilly nights (I visited in December). The staff are very friendly with great knowledge on all things to... More

This is a lovely hotel in Venice in a perfect location to St Marks Square (about 7 mins) and a walkable distance to Rialto Bridge. The service was very good and Deborah on reception was really lovely. On New Years Evening she put a little bottle of champagne and some party hats and blowers in our room all packaged up... More

This was a great hotel, central location, friendly staff, good price and altogether made for a wonderful holiday. It is located near to many lovely local restaurants and sights but is in a quiet area and the room overlooked the water. The celing in the room was spectacular and the building has been tastefully renovated keeping the character yet offering... More

First of all we got a free room upgrade which was awesome! The room was beautifully decorated and was big. It contained a safe, TV (with lots of channels, but only a few English), a bath, a towel warmer, a hair dryer and complimentary slippers, shower caps and shampoo. The staff were very nice and helpful. Buffet breakfast was included... More

Al Due Principi is a charming hotel off the beaten path, overlooking a small canal, where the gondolas float by from time to time. The hotel is good value and the price includes a very nice continental breakfast with lots of choices. The rooms are large and beautifully decorated, particularly the bathroom which was fully glass tiled on the walls... More

Centrally located near Piazza San Marco - quiet area. Restaurants and bars nearby. Hotel was good - personnel very friendly. Breakfast was just ok though. Eggs, sausages, omelette looked like they were prepared very early in the morning... Excellent internet connection and rooms were bigger than the venice standard I assume.

Just returned from a 3 night stay here & it was stunning. The hotel is located on a truly gorgeous old canal with gondolas passing frequently & 3 little bridges. Only 5 minute walk to St.Marks square & the sea front. Our room was huge & had a balcony overlooking the canal. Spotlessly clean & the en suite gorgeous. All... More

Been at this hotel on sep 2015 and stayed for two nights. Rooms are remodeled and modern. Shower is great. Beds are BAD and needs to be replaced since they make a lot of noise. Staff are English speaking and very nice. Breakfast which was included is a simple buffet style which offers basic dishes and I think could be... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
