This is a charming hotel. Staff very friendly and more than happy to organise things for you. Room was spotless, spacious and thankfully had airco. Breakfast was a basic continental and could be improved upon. Location was perfect. 5 minutes from San Marco Square, close to all the must see's of Venice.

Although we had this place recommended by a friend who lives close to Venice, I'm sure he never actually went in. The main, day desk sergeant almost never looked up unless we worked at getting his attention. He have extremely poor directions (took us three calls to get even near the hotel, then had to find a local guy to... More

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review. I believe it is obvious we would like aspire to a better score rather than two dots and we are sorry you haven't spend a great stay with us but please next time, while visiting a hotel, ask somebody to explain you how to use these "useless" buttons in the room. Some may... More

This is a very central hotel The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that the bed was very uncomfortable The value was good and the size of the family room was also good Small but friendly staff and decent breakfast There are plenty of good places to eat Just stay away from the seafood tourist... This is a small and wonderfully located hotel within easy walking distance of the major sights. Very welcoming reception and helpful reception staff for the 4 nights we stayed. Its easy to find. Go up the little alleyway from San Zacarria near the statue of Victor Emmanual by the shore. Go through the sunlit square and take the exit to... More

Hotel is located in a very convenient location, close to Piazza San Marco and near Vaporetto station. Rooms were nice and the size of the bathroom is incredibly large. I will try to stay here again next time I visit this wonderful place. Venice was with no doubt one of my favorite and unique city in Italy

Very central location, 5 mins to St marks square or San zaccaria water bus. Beautiful hotel with friendly staff. We stayed in room 106 which has a balcony and views of the canal. This room was ideal for famies as it had a main bedroom and a double sofa bed in an annexe. Breakfast was lovely and evening bar service... More

The hotel is situated vey conveniently in an ally between San Marco and Castello, close to the vaporetto stop Zaccaria. The rooms are large, nicely decorated an quiet. Staff very helpful. The common space / brackfast room is a bit crammed. Iwas there during the Venice Biennale so as all hotels it was over priced and fully booked

This hotel is located really conveniently to the key places of interest, which is great as Venice requires a lot of walking and this hotel's central location in a lovely area was fab. The staff were friendly but the hotel services were lacking - we couldn't access the air conditioning, the bar was never staffed, the breakfast wasn't great but... More

Dear Guest, Thank you so much for taking time to write this review! The location is one of our strong points. Few minutes and you can reach the key places of interest easily (if you do not get lost!). Then the a/c was not working due to the city's restriction laws, now we are allowed to use them. And regarding... More

We have just returned from 4 nights at the Due Principi and cannot praise it highly enough. On the doorstep of central Venice, it nonetheless is a haven of peace, overlooking a quiet canal with the odd drifting gondola. Room was spotless and appeared to have been newly decorated, with a range of facilities and the breakfasts were extensive fresh... More

It was very easy to get to the hotel from the Train station. It is a 45 minute boat ride. From the railway station Venezia Santa Lucia, use public transport (vaporetto) (I used line 1). Get off at San Marco/ San Zaccaria stop, come to the Vittorio Emanuele monument and go through the passage (sottoportico) leading to Campo San Zaccaria.... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
