Our group of seven spent two nights at this apartment at the beginning of October. I was afraid that it might be too small but we had no problems. The location is as perfect as you can get. Far enough from the noise and bustle of Venice but at the same time everything was just minutes away. There is a... More

We (2 people) stayed for 5 days during Carnivale for only 150euro per night. For the period, we would have had to pay around 120euro per night for just a double room with basic amenities in a hotel. We could not have found a better deal for the spacious, convenient and relaxing base that this apartment provided for exploring Venice.... More

MY OPINION There are many apartments and hotels in San Paolo, San Marco, Rialto, Dorsoduro, etc but I found this apartment to be appealing and very nice to stay because of 2 reasons. Price is reasonable at $220 Euro per night (depending on season) and it has very good views overlooking the Canal Della Giudecca. Stayed for 2 nights and... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
