Nice and small bed and breakfast in the outside of Venice, but still in walking distance to everything and with a waterbus line nearby if you prefer. The place has a wonderful view, is nice and clean everywhere and the host is good at making you feel welcome and are very helpful to give advices for what to experience both... More

We had a great 2 night stay at this cozy B&B. It's a 5 minute walk from the Arsenale water taxi station and a 10-15 minute walk to the main San Marco square and hence very good location wise. The rooms and bathrooms are neat, clean and done up in a very Venezian style. Breakfast spread is limited but covers... More

The B&B is conveniently located near Arsenale stop on Line 1. Very clean and nice. Great views of the Grand Canal. My room, P2, the toilet was a small area as well needs new shower head. My only real disappointment is that there was no wi-fi and Giovanni really didn't care....

Giovanni is a great host who goes out of his way to make your stay remarkable. I booked the lagoon view room for 4 nights direct with Giovanni. Unfortunately he double booked the first night. He offered me a suite at the back and to compensate me he took me on a trip around Arsenale canals. The suite at the... More

Just returned from a 5 night stay at this wonderful B & B and would highly recommend the rooms at the front - the views are spectacular. Easy location being just over 1 bridge from the Arsenale stop (which you can get a water boat from/to the Airport) which cost €27 each return and the journey takes approximately 50 minutes.... More

We found this B&B via a popular hotel internet booking site. It was chosen for its proximity to the main water basin and St Mark's Square - the latter of which is about a ten minute walk away. The accommodation is on the 2nd floor (3rd if you are American) and there is no lift/elevator. You get emailed instructions a... More

One of the highlights of my trip. The B&B was just so cosy and homely and had the most amazing view at breakfast. Giovanni was a pleasure to meet and made us feel very welcome. It was almost a relief to meet him after several other rude people we met on the vaparetto.

Wonderful place to stay! Very good location, nice and clean room, tasty breakfast. Very nice atmosphere, great service - the owner is very helpful and supportive regarding any guest queries. I can highly recommend this place to stay and will for sure consider it for my next stay in Venice.

Beautiful B&B in an ideal location. Close to water taxi stop so easy to get to/from airport, islands and other side of Venice. Rooms are modern, spacious with all the amenities of a top hotel. Views from the front rooms of B&B on balconies are stunning and worth upgrading for. Giovanni was very helpful and knowledgable on where to eat... More

A real find! Perfectly located for a few days sightseeing in Venice and we had a room overlooking St Marks basin. Giovanni very helpful and accommodation very comfortable. We found it easy to find (nearest stop Arsenale on vaparetto) - and just a short walk from there. Giovanni had left a code for us to get through the outside door... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
