The hotel is inside an old monastery in St Elena, which is outside of the Venice centre. Still, with a Vaporetto stop about 200 m in front of the hotel it's very easy to get anywhere with a 10 minute boat ride. The hotel is clean and well-appointed. The standard rooms are small but modern and big enough for a... More

We spent three nights at the Sant'Elena while in Venice, on our first trip there. My wife selected it based on other reviews and some of the amenities it had that we needed, with her elderly mother along with us. The hotel was on the very east side of the island, in a residential neighborhood right next to a very... More

Asked for a second key at the front desk since there are three of us in the room, older lady at the front desk said we can't have one because they do not have extra keys. I work for a hotel and have been in the industry for over 30 years, have traveled all across the US, some cities in... More

Dear Guest from Florida, we are sorry to read your review and, most of all, we are sorry to find out that you gave a low rate at our hotel only for a little inconvenience. It is true we had no other keys that day, but only because we were waiting for their delivery. The day after your complaint indeed... More

Stayed for 3 nights in June. Hotel is in a residential area at the end of the island, 2 mins from the water taxi stop or a 20 min walk from St marks square. A couple of shops & restaurants dotted around the hotel but a 10 min walk away you will find many more. Stayed in 116, room is... More

The hotel is located in the residential district of Venice and as a consequence it is a very quite neighborhood. Depending on your preferences this is either a good thing or a bad thing. Personally this was a great retreat from the hordes in the more tourist end of Venice. The hotel is more a business hotel in that it... More

Comfortable, clean room ; child friendly & staff very helpful with toddler. Quiet location and close to the waterbus stop - only one stop from the Lido and 3 or 4 to St Mark's Square. Excellent and varied breakfast and sunny breakfast room very pleasant to sit out in. Pleasant garden with seats and sunbeds after a tiring day !

the hotel is hidden behind a very pleasant green park a little away from the city center of Venice (20 minutes walking distance); it is very easy to jogg in the morning under the freshness of the green trees; the hotel is simple but comfortable, clean and the staff very helpful and friendly; rooms are good, and quite;

In green area on edge of city but with lovely views of Venice. High quality service with large light airy and cool bedrooms/bathrooms. Breakfast very acceptable with lots of choice and friendly efficient staff. Very good quality mattresses and bed linen. Lovely garden area for sitting/lying out and drinks before or after dinner. There were a few Mosquitos about in... More

Its located a bit further away from St Mark's than we had expected, but the hotel itself more than made up for it. Very spacious and well decorated room, with a balcony overlooking the grand canal. Excellent breakfast spread, and the river taxi stop is a 3 min walk away.

Had a lovely 3 night stay. Hotel staff on arrival were very friendly, helpful too during our stay. The room was very clean and modern. Breakfast was lovely with a long serving time. The hotel is a bit of a walk from Central Venice but the water bus stop is only 2 minutes from the hotel. Would definitely use this... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
