This hotel is perfectly located, only a 5-10 minutes walk from the water bus stop and similar to St Marks Square (The directions posted on the hotels website to get from the water bus stop to the hotel are perfect). The room was a good size, nice décor, quiet and was clean. There was a safe that was free to... More

Stayed here for 5 days late March. Friendly staff, clean rooms good bed linen and towels. Don't expect a huge spread at breakfast, but it is more than adequate, we never went hungry and the coffee is plentiful and good. The location is perfect, a short 5 minute walk to the vapertto at San Zaccarria (once you get your barings)... More

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights in Mid March. The hotel is an easy 5 to 10 minute walk from the San Zaccaria ferry stop - the ferry takes about an hour and 15 minutes to get there from Marco Polo airport. The reception is staffed 24 hours by friendly staff - if you've booked a package... More

The affordable Hotel Corte Dei Greci is some 10 minutes walk from San Marco Square on the main island of Venice. Most easily reached by taking the Alilaguna boat from the airport to San Zaccaria port which is only five minutes walk to the hotel. The reception is friendly and provides excellent service, the limited number of rooms are clean... More

I spent 4 nights at this hotel with my girlfriend. The location is perfect, just round the corner from San Zaccaria water bus stop which they all seemed to stop at! and several restaurants and shops on the doorstep. Even though it was so close to the main centre and St Marks square it was quiet at night due to... More

The hotel is very nicely located near the vaporetto station. However, finding it may be a slight problem because it does not have prominent signage and is in a back alley. The room was large and comfortable (an old Venetian home converted into a hotel) and so was the bathroom. The wifi did not function too well. However, the elevator... More

The hotel is so beautiful, the rooms decoration are incredible. The bad thing is that there's just no elevador!!!! (Well there is but it is private). Small area for breakfast, not so much tables and we needed to squeeze ourselves. Very very good location! Venice is adorable! But before booking a hotel, certify it does have an elevador.

We arrived and were ushered through into a room at the back of the ground floor which was in itself like a cupboard. Upon entry the room was actually ok, clean and in good order. Opening the cupboard to store our valuables in the safe, we discovered it was not working, so called for assistance. Not only Could the attendant... More

this is not what i call an hotel. As a b&b I would rate it 4 small reception and breakfast area and no bar facilities. We were in the annex on the second floor the room was spacious clean and the toilet and bath were fine. The staff were pleasant and informative and the actual area was perfect for st... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
