We spent three great nights here and it was marvelous. The location was ideal for making our way to all parts of Venice. The breakfast was outstanding and featured a vast array of items. The staff were all very helpful and a computer was available just off the lobby. Many great places to eat are nearby.

Lovely hotel, great location, wonderful room (#2). Front faces a beautiful square and at the back there is a canal (clean! I could see fish and a sea anemone) where you can observe gondolas passing by. Quiet . The staff where polite and helpful. Loved staying there!

We spent three nights here and the staff could not have been more helpful. They organised transport and a great night out for us. Decent breakfast. Close to the Paizza and Rialto. We would stay there again.

The hotel is charming in the old way but I would highly recommend looking elsewhere if you are going for the cheapest which I think is the classic room. We booked really last minute (3 weeks before our trip in July) and got the classic room which really isn't worth it compared to every other review and picture people have... More

Dear Gwholoves, To be honest, reading your review, we think you didn’t understand Venice itself, reading also your others average reviews about “Piazza San Marco” and “Ponte dei Sospiri”, you completely miss what Venice is, an Historical town with 1000 years history! As well our Hotel, a Ducal Palace owned from 3 different Doges, which became after an 8 years... More

Booked our room in this quiet, cozy hotel last minute online. Got a welcome email with tips and upon request very quick several support emails dealing with the car park. Very good service when we arrived. Delicious breakfast. Very friendly support throughout the stay. Highly reommended boutique hotel.

Spent two nights there for my husband's birthday. I booked a deluxe room and got upgraded to a suite which was just beyond perfect. Beautiful, huge living room with high ceilings, and cosy, romantic bedroom with wooden beams. We also had a huge balcony overlooking the canal - could have spent hours just looking out there. The staff are absolutely... More

My wife and I booked 2 nights at Ruzzini Palace after seeing it on a list of the most romantic hotels in Venice. It was perfect. Our room was large, comfortable, and very luxurious. With high ceilings and beautiful design details, it really felt like staying in a palace. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. (They even sent a... More

We spent 4 nights here after having a disastrous check in at the woeful canaletto hotel (where we didn't even spend 1 night!). The helpful staff (Simon was superb) upgraded us to a suite with a view- just sensational. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was spacious. The decor was rustic but modern. Breakfast was delicious every morning.... More

We stayed at the Ruzzini Palace for two nights before a cruise. The room we had had a view over the roof tops to St Mark's Square. The room was quirky but charming with open beams and a small sitting area. Arriving to the lobby by water taxi was a real treat and was arranged for by the hotel (for... More

Wow, our room over a canal and from the other end overlooking a piazza. Large room with breathtaking artwork. Breakfast was quality and in a beautiful room. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. Value for money in a perfect location.

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
