Our experience at Casa di Sara was a good one, the staff were friendly and the property was clean and charming. Breakfast was simple but got us on our way and the location was great for exploring Venice, walking distance from all the main sights and convenient to the train and bus stations. We didn't have any trouble finding the... More

We had a very charming room at the Casa di Sara in Venice. It was a 5 minute walk from the vaporetto and was in a part of Venice filled with Venetians instead of tourists. We were met by the entrance to the hotel which was good because we do not have a cell phone that works in Italy. The... More

I have just come back after 3 days stay at Casa di Sara B&B. Had excellent stay along with my wife and 5 years old daughter. The owner (Nello) mailed around a week in advance to confirm the approximate time when I will be reaching I had googled the address and using map reached from Venice bus station to Casa... More

Very difficult to find the street, because they advertise it as Dorsoduro St, and the street is not called Dorsoduro but Fondamenta Eremite/Borgo; and if you do not get in time, nobody is there to give you the keys. So, have a telephone available to call them (telephone number is on the door). You will also need your smartphone flashlight... More

Management personnel only seen for check in, never seen again.. The women who fixed breakfast was there only for that job. No personell on site. Breakfast was at one inconvenient time only, no exceptions. Roof terrace not available as advertised. No place to sit in room and no common area with roof terrace closed. Needed an extra pillow, which was... More

Staff was kind enough to pick us up when we got off from Alilaguna Zattere stop when I told him we couldn't find the hotel (Venice streets are complicated). They even e-mailed us days before the trip and followed up when it was already 3pm and we haven't arrived as we did not know the boat trip from the airport... More

Nice quiet place to stay in Venice. Very friendly and helpful staff. Not in the main action, but walking distance or boat ride to everything. Bathroom and shower not what we are used to, but private. We would stay here again!

My first impression was that it is a looooooong way from the airport on the Alilaguna - the trip is over an hour to the Zattere stop on the Blue Route. Once there, it is a relatively short walk through a couple of narrow streets (and over a couple of bridges) to Casa di Sara itself - I had used... More

Very clean room, close to all Venice has to offer. Very near to water bus stop. We felt the house was ours. Only dislike was the air conditioning was not very good, but we expected this from the begin ing. Will be going back in the future, but perhaps not in the heat of the summer. Would recommend to anyone.

This is a small, truly Italian, bed and breakfast. There are only 4 rooms, one off of the front foyer, with private bath, two are on the second floor, each with private baths, and one on the third floor with its private bath. Breakfast is Italian continental - hot croissants with cheeses and/or jams, coffee and juices. Nicole, the ONSITE... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
