I stayed in this bed and breakfast with my son for 4 nights, and we had a really pleasant stay. The rooms are clean and nice. The breakfast is good. The owners Itala and Luca are very friendly and do anything to make your stay as nice as possible. They know a lot of nice places to go, and give... More

We stayed two nights and had a great time. The owners were very friendly and helped us find the hidden gems of Venice. Thereason we're only four guest rooms which made for a very peaceful stay. Close proximity to the train station as well.

We stayed here just for a night and enjoyed it. Breakfast was simple but filling. The place is a bit hard to find, so make sure you write down the directions and their phone number – we got a little lost (as one is prone to do in Venice) but the staff were very helpful and we eventually found our... This B&B is conveniently located near to the train and bus stations. The neighborhood is great. We found some wonderful places to eat just minutes from there. The hosts, Luca and Itala, live in the apt next door and are very helpful. We had a large room with windows that opened on to a small piazza. Breakfast wasn't outstanding (toast,... More

It was really hard to find, and after being in Campo San Giacomo it would still take us at least 45 minutes to find it precisely. We had to ask several people on the way until we got the right door number. When we arrived we're told we should have told our precise arrival time but we weren't sure. Anyway... More

nice hotel, nice rooms, nice style it took us a while to find it, but once you figure out the way, it`s really easy and close to the railway station, nearby you can find several not fancy restaurants with reasonable prices

I just wanted to say that it is worth it being somewhere where you are well treated and our experience is that the owner was helpful, kind and smily. We had no problems in feeling us like at home and to ask whatever it was so that made our experience something different and she explained everything quite good so we... More

We had such a lovely stay here. The hosts were so friendly and helpful, they went above and beyond in giving us advice about where to go in Venice. Our room was beautiful and so clean and we looked forward to our morning italian coffee served with breakfast each morning. The family who own the B and B are wonderful... More

We had a porter ferry our bags for ages before he could find it - so glad we did not have to carry our luggage would never have made it. No sign on the outside of the building and it seemed a little run down. However, the owners were very accomodating and pleasant. It was clean, and as it turned... More

We literally walked around and around for almost an hour before calling to find this place. Please note, this place is not marked in any way. We were confused thinking there would be some kind of sign or shingle saying B&B, but no. The people are very nice and accommodating, rooms are big and comfortable and the breakfast is adequate.... Philip Thanks for your kind words, I just wanted to point out that just because we live in Venice, and we know that the town is a labyrinth, we send written instructions to reach us in 10 minutes, I assure you that they works very well with everyone ... I assure you that if you had read the email or... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
