We stayed here a few nights in early July. Itala was a great hostess, and she really helped us make the most of our stay in Venice. She had great suggestions for the lagoon islands to visit, and sat down at breakfast with us each morning to give us some Venetian history, stories, and tips. The accommodations were adequate, with... More

Itala, the owner we met, was very nice, but the directions to the place were less-than-useful and it took my daughter and me a half hour for what should have been a 15-minute walk from the train station. (For instance, instead of saying, "Turn right after 25 meters, the directions should have said, "Turn right at the street that has... More

Dear Sir, thank you for the review. We are very sorry that we have lost to Venice, we realize that the city is a maze, for this reason the instructions of writing "turn right after 25 meters", because it is the easiest way to not get lost, just count 25 steps and then turn right..when we must give directions to... If you follow the instructions that Itala and Luca send you'll find this quaint little bnb with ease. The bnb gives you a taste of what it is like to live in a typical Venetian apartment. It is great if you're not bothered about 5* hotel experiences, and you just want to be thrust into Venetian life. For that it... More

The place is awesome and the hosts are very kind. Family style atmosphere. Nice surroundings with easy way to reach the railway station as well San Marco and Rialto. Breakfast is nice with a large choice of food and drinks. Price is reasonable considering how expensive is Venice.

Three things which make this B&B such good value: 1. The owners; they are very friendly, accommodating and extremely helpful. They waited up for us to arrive from our late flight, put on a nice simple breakfast every morning, gave us advice on where to go and recommended restaurants (even booking a table for us one night! saving us the... I stayed in this bed and breakfast with my son for 4 nights, and we had a really pleasant stay. The rooms are clean and nice. The breakfast is good. The owners Itala and Luca are very friendly and do anything to make your stay as nice as possible. They know a lot of nice places to go, and give... More

We stayed two nights and had a great time. The owners were very friendly and helped us find the hidden gems of Venice. Thereason we're only four guest rooms which made for a very peaceful stay. Close proximity to the train station as well.

We stayed here just for a night and enjoyed it. Breakfast was simple but filling. The place is a bit hard to find, so make sure you write down the directions and their phone number – we got a little lost (as one is prone to do in Venice) but the staff were very helpful and we eventually found our... This B&B is conveniently located near to the train and bus stations. The neighborhood is great. We found some wonderful places to eat just minutes from there. The hosts, Luca and Itala, live in the apt next door and are very helpful. We had a large room with windows that opened on to a small piazza. Breakfast wasn't outstanding (toast,... More

It was really hard to find, and after being in Campo San Giacomo it would still take us at least 45 minutes to find it precisely. We had to ask several people on the way until we got the right door number. When we arrived we're told we should have told our precise arrival time but we weren't sure. Anyway... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
