We had to pay a tax at the end of our stay. We were asked to pay 18 euros for tax and service. I sure we weren't supposed to pay this but didn't really care. It was our last day in Europe and we had to rush to Airport. As far as the hotel it itself, well there is a... More

Terrific hotel choice! Check-in was smooth and friendly, and we got great recommendations for cicchetti nearby! WiFi is accessible from the lobby, no big problem because we wanted to be out and about, anyway, rather than stuck on our phones all the time. Free breakfast was lovely - a nice variety and a great way to start each day. Rooms... More

this is a very nice hotel. it is located not far from the bus/train station. it is in a building that is "old" on the outside but they built a new building inside it. Venice apparently has codes preventing modifications to exteriors. this caused a bit of hardship finding the place though because of minimal signage. they post directions to... More

The hotel is walkable from the train station or you can take the slow ferry one stop. The rooms are clean and chic. We travel with our toddler and the double was big enough for the three of us. There is a supermarket nearby where you can get the necessities. The breakfast is very good with lots of choices. The... More

We enjoyed our stay very much. Only wish we could have stayed a few more days. Next time we will. Your hotel is 5 star and staff also. We will be back! It's easy to get to and is centrally located in an old part of Venice. Close to a plaza that had a lot of activity on Saturday. It... More

Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice clean rooms. Quiet neighborhood away from the crazy crowds. It is literally 5 minutes away from the train station across the bridge. Please be aware that the directions on Google Maps are wrong. We got hopelessly lost trying to find it.

Our stay was really comfortable and the staff were really helpful. This was our first visit to Venice and we got really lost. Maybe your maps could be a little clearer. We were glad that there was a hotel porter to lead us to the hotel or we'd never found the place!

My wife and I stayed here for a few days during our honeymoon, and it was really charming. The color scheme is unusual and very attractive, the bathroom has a jacuzzi tub and shower, and the bed was very comfortable. Wifi is available only on the 1st floor, which is where breakfast is served, but that was fine. We didn't... More

We enjoyed our stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is also quite good. Please note that wifi only works in the common area / breakfast area, and not in rooms. We knew this prior to booking, so it was not a surprise/disappointment. We were too busy enjoying this wonderful city to need to use wifi back... More

Celebrating our honeymoon and we were welcomed with a free upgrade on arrival to a large room with sofa and views of the rooftops. Great decor, welcoming staff all of whom were helpful with every question we had. We loved the chiming church bells every morning which added to the charm of being in Venice. We found the location easily... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
