We stayed in this hotel for three days but it proved to be the worst hotel during our entire Europe tour. Very poor service and uncleaned rooms are the trade mark of this hotel. The owner himself was the only staff available at the hotel if he is not occupied.

This is a really cool boutique hotel and I'd recommend staying here. It is small and intimate with only 5 rooms but you get the benefits of a hotel with the feeling of staying in someone's house. We have a garden room and it's beautiful

This is probably one of the best hidden gems in Venice. Located off the main beaten tourist tracks this cozy little inn lies in the south western corner of Venice - next to the Vaporetto Station "San Basilio". Yet it is still within convenient walking distance of all the major sights. The owner couple (both architects) converted the old house... More

We spent a lovely childfree 3 days in Venice and were very please to have found this hotel. We opted for the private garden which would have been great of the weather hadn't been so wet, but I can imagine it being a lovely little oasis when it's hot and dry. The owners were waiting for us on our arrival... More

I have just got back from a long weekend in Venice with my boyfriend and whilst there we stayed at the Avogaria Locanda. Its a very nice authentic boutique hotel, our room was a junior suite with a private garden. On arrival we were welcomed with a bottle of Prosecco on ice and nibbles. Our entire stay was relaxing and... More

My wife and I loved our stay here when we decided to spend a night in Venice in the middle of a whirlwind Italy vacation last week. We stayed in the second room which has its own little backyard and little tree outside — very chill. The room itself is very nice and definitely chic with modern furnishings. Our host Felippo... It is now over a month since I had the distinct displeasure of being led astray by favourable reviews and am recovered from my shock at the treatment we received at this pompous little B & B. Yes, the location is excellent, and yes it was quiet at night. If you want to pay steep prices for that, by all... More

We booked this little hotel for one night as we were leaving on a cruise the next day and it seemed reasonably priced and in a very convenient location so close to the port. The hotel has three rooms as it is more of a restaurant with bed and breakfast accommodation on the side. If you are travelling, it's a... More

Stayed there the beginning of August and had a wonderful stay. The room was clean and spacious. It was a short walk to Piazza San Marco and other great sites. The locations of this hotel was what me and my wife were looking for. Short walk to all the things you want to see and just far enough to stay... More

We used TripAdvisor recommendations and booking.com to plan most of our accommodation on our recent European holiday and almost without exception we were delighted with our choices. Unfortunately we were overwhelmingly disappointed with our choice of the Avogaria Locanda. It is a very well located boutique hotel (if you want to escape the heaving summer crowds), however there is little... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
