This hotel is by far one of the worst I haved stayed in. There are no tiolet papers, rude staff and a market bought selection for breakfast. The location too is difficult to find and wifi connectivity is poor.

The hotel is not centrally located to the major sites of Venice, but it's comfort and excellent service more than off-set the extra steps you'll take. I stayed here for a week in November 2015 and found it to be a delight; excellent restaurants close by, small shops without the tourist hassle, 10 to 15 minute walk through the real... More

We loved our stay Avogaria Locanda as it was so close for us to board our Cruise, close to lovely eating spots, and within walking distance to St Mark's square. The Proprietors were so friendly & helpful, and gave us a lovely breakfast - a really great location and revisit to Venice 1

We booked this room (Junior Suite with private garden) in February 2015 . This room is as beautiful as it is shown on the website! We had absolutely wonderful days in this little hotel! All are very friendly, breakfast is very good and it is near to the centre of Venice! It is also in a quiet location. We can... More

We picked this lovely little boutique hotel as we wanted to be near San Basilio to join our cruise ship the next day. Hotel was so easy to find only three minutes walk from the vaporetto station. We arrived a bit early as we had a early flight from Edinburgh. Francesco was so nice and welcoming and gave us our... More

We really enjoyed staying in the beautifully decorated Avogaria Locanda. The room was spacious and well equipped with everything you would need while staying. The hosts were very accommodating and you can tell that the hotel is a real labour of love for them. Breakfast was beautiful with a good selection including pastries and plenty of fresh fruit. The hotel... More

Locanda Avogaria has been a wonderful discover in the heart of the "real" Venice. The room was spacious and beautifully furnished, looking into a private garden. The owners very classy, discrete and polite. Breakfast room very elegant, breakfast itself simple but good (it is the only thing I would improve by using a little more exclusive products). The position is... More

A small but perfectly formed hotel. It is located in a quite area of Venice close to the taxi depot. The staff are very friendly & the rooms are smart & clean. It its in a great location away from hustle and noise of busy Venice while only being 5 minute walk to the middle. It only has 5 rooms... More

I loved the location of the hotel not too crowded like the center..the room was very nice and spacious.. Staff is very nice.. My only comment was that we wanted a late check out and they wanted us to pay an extra 30 euros , other than that it was a very pleasant stay

Dear Dina B. The late check-out is always and everywhere a paid service. But you didn't need a late check-out, you only needed to leave your bags here during the afternoon. Infact you came back to pick them up at 6pm. And it was obviously free. Thanks a lot for your review and your pic! More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
