We were a little hessitant at first about booking our 5-night stay in early June at the Cavallino because we're not fans of fairy-tale like hotels. But we were GLAD we did and wished that we could have stayed longer. We booked one of their larger rooms - room 24 - featured on their web site with the green 4... more

This is a charming small hotel located perfectly on the main square of Castlerotto. The service, advise and food were all better than expected for the price. it is not "fancy" but it is clean and quiet and in design and style reflects its locality. We stayed for two nights and we would stay there again. Castlerotto is an attractive... more

This hotel is a gem on all counts. Their attention to detail, their customer service orientation, very obvious quest to maintain & renew their hotel while at the same time keeping its original charm, delicious food, breathtaking location and their incredibly cheery & helpful team make this hotel such a joy to experience. We spent four days at Hotel Cavallino D'Oro. We wish it could have been longer. The hotel itself is fantastic. The staff could not have done more for us. The location is unbeatable. The atmosphere is tops. Hotel Cavallino D'Oro is now the standard by which we will judge all future places in which we stay. It will be difficult... more

The room was amazing - skylights, separate tub and shower, very comfortable bed...the employees were extremely friendly and helpful...the food was beyond compare - the breakfast buffet was probably one of the best we've ever experienced, the dinners were great, very extensive wine list. The town is wonderful and the scenery speaks for itself. Highly recommended. more

We stayed here for 1 week. We arrived via car. We very much liked this hotel. It was very comfortable with nice sized room and modern bathroom. We normally do not go for the half board option but did so this time. This included breakfast and an evening meal. The breakfast was very good with typical European items (coffee, yogurt,... more

This hotel has it all beginning with the owners, Susanne and Stefan Urthaler. They have created a very warm and inviting atmosphere to greet their guests. Their "personal" touch is definitely felt everywhere in the hotel especially with the staff. The guest rooms are decorated with taste as they accurately represent this region of Italy. The resturant was excellent as... more

This hotel is recommended by Rick Steves among others. The hotel is nice and the rooms are pleasant. The breakfasts are good, but the dinners tended to be quite uneven in quality and preparation. The owner casts a dominating presence over the place and treats the property like his special little fiefdom. There is a definite pecking order. Preference in... more
