We got married in Orta at the end of June and stayed at the Leon D'Oro with the majority of our 60+ guests. The hotel is perfectly located and we found all the staff to be exceptionally friendly and accommodating. They were more than happy to help answer any little queries we had and, a minor mistake with the bill... More

Albergo Leon d’Oro is in a perfect spot on the banks of Lake Orta with breathtaking views of Isola San Giulio and right in the centre of the small town and on market day you are just a few steps away. We stayed 3 nights in room 205 which is a superior double room with a partial view of the... More

Spent two nights in this beautiful town at the end of June, and were greeted by wonderful and friendly reception staff who showed us to our lovely room. The Hotel is located right on the lake and has a spectacular view, and the Junior Suite we stayed in was spacious and comfortable with a terrace that overlooks the town square... More

Fantastic room. In the bridal suite. Fantastic view of the lake. Highly recommended. Easy access to the town square. Nice friendly staff. Also give guests 10% discount when you eat in the restaurant. Will definitely visit again, and again

What a fabulous hotel. We went to a wedding and stayed at the hotel following a recommendation. Choice of rooms from standard ( nothing fancy but fine), superior (better than fine) or junior suite ( excellent) with excellent staff. All the staff don't speak English ( you are meant to learn some local language when traveling!) so be patient, they... More

Just returned from a few days in Orta San Giulio. Hotel is lovely, our room was a nice size, very clean, only thing missing was coffee making facilities for us, we do like to wake up and have a nice coffee. The hotel is in a perfect spot in the centre, with amazing views. The food in the evening was... More

Leon d'Oro is at a sweet spot - it offers a breathtaking view of Isola San Giulio; at the same time, it is close to restaurants, shops and the boat service. The hotel's interior is meticulously designed, and is likely to have involved a generous budget. It is spotlessly clean, and extremely well maintained. I must also mention young Sara... More

This hotel is in a spectacular position. The restaurant sits directly on the lake and its very beautiful. The food in the restaurant is amazing and despite the brittle service it is worth a visit. The most unfortunate part to this hotel is the women that greets you as your host. She barely looked at us when we arrived. When... More

We stayed here in mid october. Weather not brilliant, but a delightful little town, and the hotel is in the middle. Nevertheless it is very quiet. Spotlessly clean, recently refurbished in a slightly quirky but attractive way. Family run - the receptionist is the latest in the family line. Excellent restaurant. Plenty of other options around (particularly the wine bar... More

We ate lunch outside overlooking Lago d'Orta, very pleasant, although on a busy crowded Saturday afternoon, the waitress was less than enthusiastic. Can't say I blame her, it was really busy. That evening, though, we ate indoors, and I had a plate of fettucine with tartuffi, and the waiter was attentive and generous with the shaved fungi. Delicious.
