From the moment we saw the villa, perched on a hillside, overlooking Lake Orta, we couldn't help chuckling at this elaborate ginger-bread castle that looks straight out of the Arabian Nights. And see it you will, for its minaret with an onion dome ending in a pointed needle, stretches up above the trees and is visible from far away. The... More

This was an excpensive and totally overprised hotel. If it had costed 1/10 of the price we could have accepted it. Nobody really cared about you. Spa was a single room With poor massage and Music from her iPhone! Great restaurant (Michelin), but stay away from the hotel and use Your many for something else.

Dear Einar e Thank you for writing to us and making your observations. We are delighted you enjoyed the restaurant but very sorry that you are dissatisfied with the hotel and we feel that you and other TA readers might appreciate our feedback in the interests of accuracy. fabulous building, great staff, great room, but principal reason for staying was to enjoy a Two Star Michelin eating experience. Ashamed to say, meal for two with wine over €500 !!! Absolute rip off... Worth about €150 max... Left a bad taste in both our mouths....

We've been meaning to stay at Villa Crespi for a long time ... and finally managed it! It really is the most stunning hotel, in a perfect setting. The "Moorish" styling of the building is incredible ... and it really is hard to describe. We thought it slightly odd that there were pictures and sculptures of the chef at various... More

From the moment to the moment we left, we were treated extremely well by all the staff. It is a unique experience staying here, as the hotel is a wonder to stay in. The room we had was glorious, luxurious and sumptuous. It was also very quiet, partly due to the walls (which look about 2.5 foot thick) and the... More

Can't say enough about this place , with helpful staff which fall over themselves to help you. Beautiful village to explore and the villa offers a 1st class Resturant all situated close to the lake. I would definitely be recommending this villa to other friends in the Uk as it's a hidden gem. The rooms are exquisite and very unusual... More

This is a very special hotel with exquisite, unusual design. Service was very helpful and generous but there were some disappointments as well. Building appears to have seen better days and could use some work. Hotel is quite isolated from town and even need shuttle to pool and lake. Had great masseur but our language differences led to a lovely... More

Villa Crespi is madly unusual. A Moorish castle sitting above a small Italian lake and boasting a 2 star Michelin restaurant. It is very ornate and carefully maintained. The staff are excellent and very attentive. The food is fantastic - some of it as good as I've ever had - a pigeon dish and a spaghetti with clams in particular.... More

The building is a replica of a mansion in Bagdad, really interesting detailed interiors, grand rooms furnished with antique furniture. Although we were staying at the hotel we weren't automatically booked into the restaurant and initially were told it was full, but they managed to fit is for an early dinner. I am glad they did, the meal as one... More

We discovered Villa Crespi through the Relais & Châteaux guide and ceased the opportunity to visit and enjoy Lake Orta. As Relais & Châteaux Club 5C members, upon arrival at Villa Crespi we were offered a welcome drink in the garden framed by the waters of Lake Orta. However, the lake is really not visible as a result of the... More
