We agree with many of the other reviews on the site. Fabulous location, the terrace was lovely and peaceful. But the service was poor. The 'free wifi' is useless. The cooling system is the rooms is not existent and therefore rooms are horribly warm at night. Good luck if you are trying to find any service by the pool for... More

Great location with a spectacular view. Breakfast great. Fantastic Espresso. Rooms rather dark, small and more design than of practical use. Café latte colour feels outdated. Corridors very dark - almost depressing. Pool-area right on the brink to the lake. Morning swimming in the lake makes up for the non existing WiFi. We were more than 12 people and non... More

We thoroughly enjoyed the San Rocco hotel. Our room was small but we did have a (tiny) balcony and lake view. There was adequate storage and unlike other guests we did not have trouble with the wifi or with outside noise/music. We found the staff to be quite friendly and appreciated their offer to take us to the train station... More

Great location on lake in old town and gorgeous property. But incompetently run, particularly for such an expensive hotel. Room was small hit and stuffy- no AC and very poor ventilation. WiFi weak and sporadic- kept dropping signal. And most obnoxious was terrible loud music (contemporary soft rap) piped through the halls until midnight (speaker just outside our door and... More

We stayed in a lake view room with terrace for 3 nights with a toddler. The location is simply sensational, up there with the worlds best. The hotel's outdoor bar area with its view are stunning and what saves the hotel...luckily we also had beautiful weather. The room we had was passable, the incredible view and it's space made up... After a slow start where we had poor service on the lake terrace, we patched it up with waiter the following day and thereafter enjoyed our visit. The food and restaurant service is good, and the hotel in a lovely spot right on Lake Orta and very near the delightful old town. Our room was satisfactory (not much storage or... More

This hotel has a great location. We had a room with lake view, which was really lovely, although we have to agree with a previous reviewer who described the wall colour as multistory carpark hue. On our second day there was a wedding during the afternoon, and later that evening the disco started. Directly under our room. The music continued... More

If you want to stay in Orta and your budget doesn't quite stretch to Villa Crespi then the San Rocco is an excellent choice. In some respects it's a better choice as the hotel's location is really exceptional. Right on the water, a short walk from the main square and uninterrupted views of the island. There are definitely some things... More

Hotel San Rocco is located right opposite Isola San Giulio, so it couldn't be better positioned... well, unless you want to be in the main piazza, but the hotels there aren't as nice. Apart from location, the other main plus point is the hotel's lovely vintage bar, which has a snooker/pool table, and it opens onto the lake too, so... More

The partners of Grace of Golf Travel (Grace and Alan) held their own wedding at this lovely hotel in October 2014. We stayed a total of 4 nights, the last two in the honeymoon suite. It was an overwhelming experience! Of course, it was our wedding! But that does not diminish the wonderful job of the staff. While it isn't... More
