It was OK - nothing special, handy for Centrale and the metro but not a short walk into the centre. We had a one night stopover en route to Verona, and it was fine, for that, not sure I would have wanted to stay longer.

This little hotel was very sweet on pictures, and when we visited it. I has a nice location, close to the central station and not far from the center itself. 10 minutes walk from Milan shops, and 2 minutes from nearest tube station. It was clean, with friendly staff and nice breakfast. The thing I liked the most was the... More

Very helpful staff, clean with nice breakfast room that opens onto rear lawned area. Automatic entrance doors are useful when laiden with luggage or shopping bags. 10 minutes walk from Milan shops, and 2 minutes from nearest tube station. Receptionist gave lots of advice whilst we were there and as we left for Garibaldi station(30 minutes walk).

Stayed here during our Italy trip. Hotel was only a 10-15 minutes' walk to Milano Centrale which suited us perfectly. Don't be put off by the general "old" (and maybe slightly rundown) look of the buildings and shops as you walk down the main road, Via Vitruvio, to the hotel. Entrance to the hotel was not grand but you get... More

It's good value, clean and quiet. However, don't expect to get much more than what you pay for. It is rather bare bones, and some of the furniture and installations looks a cheap and dated. For us it was a great, no frills first night in Italy. It's a short walk to the Metro which takes you into the central... More

Friendly staff, clean rooms, nice bathroom, and a quiet street. It's also very close to Milano Centrale which was perfect for our needs, since we had an early train to catch. Unfortunately, that train was so early that we missed breakfast here, but we'd stay again!

The bed is firm and very comfortable. We stayed in room 10 on the top floor and it was quiet and easy to sleep off our jet lag. Nice bathroom in the room. Convenient location close to Milano Centrale station. About a 30 min walk to the Duomo. Lots of good options for food in the area - try Little... More

For the rate (289 euros for 4 nights) we regarded it as really good value. The room was very good. Basic but clean and comfortable. The building itself was old and, in its own way, quite grand. We had a room on the ground floor of a second adjoining building so it was probably more convenient than rooms on the... More

My room was on the first floor facing the garden. Thus can smell cigarette smoke when I left my window slightly opened occasionally. The staff was okay except the elderly gentleman who was not friendly. Maybe because he spoke little English. Breakfast was decent but not great. Walking back to the hotel at night was uncomfortable as the security in... More

Stylish but cheap accommodation is the hardest thing to find in Milan. Its impossible, really, but I love a challenge. With fashionable places such as the Bulgari hotel costing $500 a night, I have to trawl the internet. Tripadvisor really helps because I want to hear what other people have to say. The Hotel Charly seems to have a semblance... More

Staying in Stazione Centrale

Neighborhood Profile
Stazione Centrale
Central Station represents a bridge towards the future. Impressive skyscrapers and new age buildings stretch the skyline with the majestic Unicredit Tower cutting through. Surrounding it are large towers that define Piazza Gae Aulenti, where the fountain and the Monumento Trombe leave one breathless. A famous building of the district is the Vertical Forest, where the innovative materials and trees planted on the terraces are a unique mix of nature and man-made construction. In the district, there is the Monumental Cemetery, known for its antique tombs with sculptures portraying angels of commemorative scenes many will find touching.
