This is indeed a very trendy hotel with burnished brass and gauze lined walls. The bedroom floor is bare concrete, but is warm underfoot. Bedroom walls were also bare concrete and the whole buliidng tried to portray an honesty of its construction even though it was a complete fit out of an older building. Obviously the attention to the minimalist... more

First of, yes, it was expensive to stay at Straf. Still, if you can afford it, the hotel is worth checking into. Location - superb! Two steps to Duomo (do get up early one day and go up on the roof before all tourists get there), one step to shopping, 5 min walk to Teatro alla Scala. The design and... more

Me and my boyfriend stayed at Hotel Straf back in July 2008. It has the best location you could ask for. Decor is definately modern, it took us a while to figure out how the door to our room opened! I loved the atmosphere with calming music playing in the background. Try out the bar downstairs. more

Very professional service that started with prompt replies to my requests by email. Lorenza organised restaurant bookings, tours, taxis and stored luggage and late check out - all with very little fuss. more

The location is perfect - we went on shopping trip so it was perfect (doors to La Rinascente mall are just across the street :)). The staff was nice, though they don't tell you anything, you have to ask...the hotel was very very modern, so for people who like design (like me) it's a great experience but for those more... more

Be careful. Don't be fooled by the website and some comments by design hotels nerds. Yes it's near the Duomo; yes it has some new trendy design angles.........but what you pay is not what you get. The rooms are so small you cannot fit a small luggage piece inside, the personnel is of the outmost antipathy, the breakfast or should... more

The room was clean and modern with all the extras that you would expect from a luxury boutique hotel. Breakfast has a full variety with many options and the service is good. Gym facilities are ok. The rooms are quiet and peaceful. Unfortunately the only let down were some of the staff who whilst weren't rude were also not helpful. more

High coolness factor; superbly friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful building and perfect location: dead-end street adjoing the cathedral square and behind the Galleria shopping arcade. Warmly welcoming to us middle-aged Americans. Windows well insulated from the hip bar scene outside the front entrance. Rooms stark concrete but surprisingly roomy and attractive. Comfortable beds and leather furniture. Bathroom walls and shower... more
