The location is superb and the design is beautiful, but absolutely not practical: no place to put your towels, very complicated operation of the shower and switching the lights, seats without back in the breakfast room... Wifi was free, but did NOT work: you have connection during three minutes and then it is gone for an hour. The signal is... More

Great location, just a few steps away from the Duomo. There is also a cool little bar on the ground floor where you can get a pretty decent aperitivo. The rooms and the whole establishment, as a matter of fact, is possibly a little bit too clinical looking and 'trying too hard'. The rooms are large and clean but not... More

We had some issues with our stay, but the high rating is deserved for how they responded - they did the right thing quickly and without hassle. The best thing about the hotel is the location. We were only in Milan for one night so wanted stay very central - and you couldn't get more central than this. Steps from... More

Small and neat hotel with great location. Brought my daughter along and a single bed was converted from the sofa for her. My hubby found the room to be dusty which was true so I wet a towel and briefly clean the tables and bed side table. Overall satisfied

Straf was a fun hotel. The room was modern almost to the point of brutalism, with concrete walls and abstract art. The bathroom was gorgeous, completely lined with bronze and bronzed mirrors. The only drawbacks were that the room was quite small and the shower wasn't great: though it had a rain shower, it was placed so that a lot... More

Spent 3 days at this central Milan hotel. Location is excellent for sights and shopping but whilst the hotel appears as a grade "A' in most guide books we were underwhelmed by the facilities particularly the dining area which we felt was too small for a hotel of this size. We also were disappointed by an obvious marketing ploy when... More

Small boutique hotel with great location. Room was nicely decorated. The downsides was that the lifts are small and have long waiting time. The Straf bar located next to the hotel with people loitering around the entrance at night gave a slight bad impression.

Thank you Mr & Mrs Smith for another fantastic recommendation! - hotel is super central, you can smell the duomo from your room - aircon (essential in summer) - fantastic restaurant and bar, great atmosphere for aperitivo - rooms are EXQUISITE, comfy beds, industrial / minimalist decor - great design - free wifi - ask for a room overlooking the... I booked this hotel based on previous reviews. It is a small, quirky, over the top design hotel in a fantastic location. Flew into Linate and the hotel is maybe 15 min ride into town. You are literally 1/2 a block from the doumo. Their is a great bar right next to the lobby which is the first thing you... More

The location is perfect, in a small street just by the Duomo. The hotel is achingly trendy inside, much of the decoration being very beautiful, but sometimes ease of living has been sacrificed to beauty e.g. almost no shelves for clothes; the towel rail is over the lavatory; only four coathangers, and only one of those with a bar for... Staying in Centro Storico

Neighborhood Profile
Centro Storico
The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.
