Pleasant 3 night stay. Curteous, helpful staff, bright, clean, well laid out quiet room, comfy bed, great shower, excellent "german style" style breakfast, conveinetly located. We would definitely stay here again.

We book-ended our Italy trip with stays at the Gran Duca di York. My husband and I were traveling with my parents. All of our communications prior to the trip were handled quickly, professionally, and thoroughly. We requested early check-in for my parents' room since we'd be arriving on an early flight from the States and we offered to pay... More

It was an absolute pleasure to stay at this hotel, the rooms are very comfortable and well appointed, the buffet breakfast a delight, the staff can not do too much for you and the location excellent. We will return and recommend to friends and family travelling to Milan.

This is a great little hotel close to the Duomo in the centre of Milan and located within a quiet side street. There's very easy access to walk to all of the central sights and very convenient for tram stops to take you elsewhere in the city. I arrived on a very hot July day and was immediately offered bottled... More

Clean, comfortable and well located, just what's needed. The staff are all welcoming and friendly, the room was comfortable and the bed was excellent. The small bar area was great with the usual little snacks and good wine and good for cooling off after walking the city. Air conditioning was efficient, my only (small) complaint was the water pressure, but... More

The hotel Gran Duca Di York is in an excellent location with friendly service, clean rooms and nice breakfast. We were very happy with our stay and felt it had everything we needed for our brief stay in Milan.

This was our first time here but we had previously stayed in the area. We arrived by the tram which stops in via Orifici, a very short walk away. The position is excellent being close to the Duomo, la Scala, not far from the canal district, the Sforza castle etc. However, the hotel is tucked away so is peaceful. Our... More

The hotel Gran Duca Di York is located on the Centro Historico, walking distance of major attractions. It, however, lacks good air conditioning system for the room and with the summer temps it is difficult to sleep. I will definitely not use it again, at least not in the summer.

This was by far the best hotel we stayed at during our honeymoon in Italy. The hotel is really well situated in the city center, it is beautiful and has an ‘old world’ charm to it. The rooms are big, with high ceilings and seem to have been recently renovated (the bathrooms are especially impressive). This hotel has a lot... More

Staying in Centro Storico

Neighborhood Profile
Centro Storico
The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.
