If you want to go to an evening at the opera I recommend Hotel Star. That is if you are willing to put up with a so-so room and bad service at the desk. This does not include the lady deskmanager (in the afternoon). She is great! But the gentleman on morningduty is grumpy and negative. No to a question... More

This hotel is in a great position close to the Duomo and Brera districts. It is found off a small side street . The staff was very friendly, the rooms are clean and quirky. We had the ' zebra' room ( has matching zebra print key) with very functional design . Good , yet quirky looking reading lights. The lift... More

Hotel Star is within walking distance of Duomo and a 15-20 minute walk from Sforza Castle. The front desk staff are very considerate. My room though small was clean and comfortable. I even had my own private patio, but the weather did not cooperate for me to use it. The European style buffet is filling.

nice hotel in a fantastic location, but it can be a little tricky to find as it is on a narrow street near the Duomo and downtown. Look for the sign and you cannot miss it. Great front desk service and comfortable room temperature for a hot summer in Milan. Close to the Duomo and easy access to train stations.

We stayed at the Hotel Star in Milan from July 29 through August 1, 2015. The breakfasts were excellent. The hotel is very clean and very conveniently located for tourists. The desk clerk was most helpful at recommending restaurants, at finding the best way to get back to the airport, at helping us to find our way around Milan, and... More

I stayed at Hotel Star in August 2015 for two nights and enjoyed my stay there. The hotel was about a 15 Euro cab ride from Milano Centrale train station. Check-in was quick and efficient. The hotel has such a quirky and unique style. Service/Food – Service was great. Front desk was very helpful whenever we needed information about our... More

I stayed at Hotel Star twice: once at the beginning of our trip, and once at the very end. The location was perfect. Just a 15-minute walk from Cadorna station, and right around the corner from all the important tourist sites like the Duomo and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. Service was lovely, and the complimentary breakfast was the best out of... More

Loved this little hotel. Stayed for two days. Perfect city centre location. Stations and sights in walking distance. Excellent value for money. Room was clean and bins/towels/beds changed daily. Breakfast spread was as good as the 5* place we stayed at the week before. So the furniture is a bit dated. Did not bother us at all. Would absolutely recommend... More

This hotel is a very good one since its location is very near the metro station, about only 50 meters away. So if you want to go to the center, you just have to take the metro and after 5 station you get there. In addition, the service is very nice too and the rooms as well.

I chose this hotel because of its location as well as a Rick Steves' recommendation and was not disappointed. Somewhat funky - fun - the decor is decidedly arty and whimsical. The staff is exceptionally helpful. Breakfast was included and delicious. The shower is small - I'm tall and for me was ok - but for a very large person... More

Staying in Centro Storico

Neighborhood Profile
Centro Storico
The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.
