During our stay in Mantova my husband had a medical emergency. The management and staff acted quickly and were extremely professional and helpful. The rooms are dark and smell like cigarette smoke, with beaten-up furniture. The manager is inflexible, the desk staff are rude and lazy. Overpriced and smelly. Don't bother with this hotel---there are others in Mantua that give you a better deal and nicer experience.

Equidistant between the Ducal Palace and the Palazzo Te, it is an excellent base for seeing historic Mantua. Hotel Italia is located at the edge of the historic city centre and within easy walking distance of all the principal cultural attractions, shopping facilities and public transport. The hotel rooms are of a particularly generous standard, the buffet breakfast is ample and the staff friendly and helpful. Tariffs are very reasonable. Highly recommended.
