We had a large room with a balcony (room407) a very friendly hotel with a lovely atmosphere ,family owned and they went out of there way to ensure we had a good time . As we made our way via the train (euro star) we found the walk from the train station an easy few minute walk ,and a short... More

We stayed at the Hotel Royal for four nights in September and were thrilled with our choice. The hotel is one of the grand old hotels with many beautiful lounges, libraries and reading rooms with classy furniture and a very fine ambiance. We were upgraded to a lake view room which we very much appreciated. The hotel has free and... More

Just returned from an enjoyable stay. The Hotel is a very pleasant 15 min walk from Stresa centre which means it is quieter than some of the big Hotels nearer the centre which face the main road. All the staff are hard working and helpful and the everything is very clean. We had room 229 which faces the garden, pool... More

This is a very comfortable hotel, about a 15 min walk into the centre of Stressa but close to one of the boat terminals for the 3 island tours. We paid extra for a superior room up on the 4th floor, the room was quite small but the balcony had good view of the lake. The rooms are clean and... More

We stayed for 10 days and used the Royal as a base for day trips on trains and boats to the surrounding area. The hotel was very busy, but the staff were always helpful and attentive. Breakfast was typical continental hotel fare - plenty of juice and pastries, cereals, cheese and cold meats, but anything cooked cost extra. The waiters... More

Just back from a super stay at this hotel. Had booked a garden room...high up! We were shown to Room 404...brilliant! Double aspect...sliding doors on to a balcony one side...overlooking garden and facing towards Stresa centre with Montorone hills as the backdrop...and a large side window that gave a view towards the lake. Beds were comfortable and air con worked!... More

We arrived after a tough, hot days riding across mountain passes to get to Italy our final destination. We were made to feel welcome, personally shown where to park our motorcycles undercover and to our room by very friendly staff. We had booked a room with a lake view and it was well worth the extra, fabulous terrace. We asked... More

I am surprised at the number of good reviews of this place. This was the worst hotel I stayed in for some time. There are some positives - views over the lake and islands, cleanliness, parking, nice little balcony. However, for me, these were outweighed by the negatives. The breakfast was very poor. Coffee undrinkable. Juice which tasted like it... More

I found this hotel to be charming. The staff very helpful at all times, the location is great, the beds are hard, but that is SOOO much better for your back, and is my personal preference. The bathroom was perfect and worked well, the cleanliness level is high. We stayed for a week, and found it so useful to walk... More

Lovely location great views of the lake etc that's it's best feature. Down side the shower leaks all over the floor because the screen above the bath is ill fitting. The water temp is up and down like a child on a pogo stick the towels are like tea towels. The light fitting in our bathroom hummed all night ling... More
