We stayed at this hotel during Lago Maggiore Half Marathon. Apparently they were getting ready for the new season so hotel was almost empty. Our room was probably just somehow refurbished so some of the gadgets (including TV) were still covered by the foil. Still quite clean with nice view. Personnel was nice and helpful.

The excellent location by the lake, the views from the sky bar and the standard of housekeeping are the 3 best things about the hotel. Stresa is a wonderful place to stay on Lake Maggiore and La Palma is an excellent choice for lodging. Take the lift to the top floor for drinks as the sun goes down. Great cocktails. Spectacular view over the Borromeo Islands and surrounding area. Gabriel, the bar man, is full of information on the area. Great snacks.
