On our last visit we stayed at one of the bigger, grander hotels. This time, although the hotel was less imposing, the staff were much more friendly and courteous. The owner was there almost every day checking on things and making sure all the flower displays around the hotel were always fresh. The owners family used the hotel at weekends, so... More

Stayed 2 nights in a room overlooking the back of the hotel. The fact that the hotel neon sign was only half working was indicative of the general state of the hotel. Inefficient air conditioning meant the windows needed to stay open at night thus noise became a problem - barking dogs & rubbish trucks. No compendium in the room... More

We stayed on a half board basis through Citalia at the Astoria from 10th to 20th September this year. I had to pay a supplement of over £600 for single occupancy of a double room which I found disappointing. However, our accommodation was good. we had one large double room overlooking the hills with a large balcony which had been... More

We were on a 7 night package holiday with Riviera Travel based at the Astoria Hotel. Check in was efficient and the overall first impression of the public rooms and bedrooms was good. Clean and recently refurbished in Italian style but without the "over the top" appearance of some of the neighbouring 4 star hotels. The Astoria is situated alongside... More

Our welcome was just right - friendly, without being pushy. The room was exactly what we had asked for, with a view of the lake. It was also roomy but not excessively so. It has all the right facilities, including enough hangers, but no tea-making. And the balcony gave us a better view but not of other guests. The restaurant... More

Check in was fast and efficient. We were extremely tired after a 24 hour delay but were made to feel welcome immediately. We had asked for a room facing the lake but were given the next best thing which was with a side view. The biggest downside of this was that only rooms facing the lake had their own safe... More

We stayed here for a few days before going to the apartment we had booked, and were glad we had selected the hotel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We booked one of the superior rooms, on the south east side, as they get a side view of the lake and have morning sun (the ones facing the... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Astoria. The hotel is located between two similar hotels and I get the impression that they all pride themselves in the upkeep of their front gardens. This is good because a high standard is maintained and the gardens are wonderful. Check in was amazingly fast with no fuss. We felt it was worth... More

A family run hotel and quite splendid in appearance, both inside and out. The reception staff were pleasant and helpful and I was allowed to upgrade to a lake view room on the first floor without additional charge. The room was small but adequate with a good size balcony but the bathroom was very small with very little shelf space.... More
