My husband and I booked this hotel for our first short break in the Lakes and we were pleased. The hotel is perfectly loctaed on the lake (definately worth paying for a lake view) and closely located to Stresa train station. All the restaurants, bars and excursion offices and within 300m walking distance. The staff are very polite and helpful... More

The Astoria has a great location on the lake front and is only a few minutes walk into town for shops restaurants banks etc. It has a heated pool and relaxing cocktail bar plus a roof garden with amazing views. The service was excellent. All the staff were helpful and pleasant and we really loved the restaurant service where you... More

Astoria is an old hotel with a lot of history and tradition. The rooms are not modern but nice and very clean. Try to get one facing the lake. Things that was much better then expected was the service and the food. We had a four course dinner with breasola, barolo risotto, braised calf and mimosa cake. The best dinner... More

We travelled on a package with Riviera which included flights, transfers and sightseeing. A section of the dining room was reserved for Riviera but the menu and facilities are the same for everyone. Our tables were set for two persons facing towards the lake. The food generally was good but not outstanding. the service was excellent. Local wines were a... More

We stayed at the Astoria Hotel last week. A preselected hotel as part of a Riviera travel holiday. The lake view room overlooking Lake Maggorie was beautifully decorated and gardens are magnificent. The view of the Borromean Islands are wonderful at all times and in all weathers. It is a short walk to the town centre. There is a lovely... More

We stayed here for the Easter weekend and we had a lovely stay. Rooms are well appointed even though a bit small. Lovely view of the lake if you have a lake viewing room. Bathroom also very small with shower over the bath. Not my favourite but good water pressure never the less. Short walking distance to Stresa and right... More

This hotel is very well placed, a very short walk from Stresa! It sits beside the grandest hotel, probably, on Lake Maggiore. It tries its hardest to keep up and in doing so, it charmed me a little! Initial impressions were good and stayed good. The room was on the second floor with a fabulous view of the lake, it... More

We were two couples staying here for a few days as we explored beautiful Lake Maggiore. We chose a room overlooking the lake, with a small balcony to enjoy the view, Our friends chose a less pricier room facing the rear, but with a large outdoor area. We found the rooms and hotel very clean. Not impressed with the breakfast... More

We embarked on a Riviera holiday having enjoyed Como earlier in the year.If anything Lake Maggiore is prettier, the water journeys on a fine day are pure joy. We are fussy, refined, eaters who dine out around Bray.We seldom stay in hotels for food more than a few days.Amazingly we ate in the hotel every evening, the food was first class. The waiters... Hotel in ideal location for exploring the area and lakes. Very friendly staff and overall good service. Gym facilities disappointing - pool looked lovely but too cold to swim. Lovely roof top terrace. Also excellent bar person (excellent Mojitos!!) and front of house staff!! Overall an enjoyable stay.
