Grand Dame of a hotel. Regal feeling to this hotel....gorgeous lobby, grounds, terraces, and rooms. Perfect location for beach going, walking, shopping. Did not have dinner here. Very serene and peaceful atmosphere.

The hotel is on the shores of Lake Maggiore, yet just a few hundred yards from the town centre of Stresa. The hotel has an excellent high quality restaurant, the Charleston, where they make wonderful crepes suzettes. The suite we stayed in was perfect, with a balcony overlooking the lake. The staff were so friendly and polite. The nearby Borromean... More

Booked through Riviera Travel for my 60th birthday and 30 years as a couple. Expected 4 star in the restaurant but was dissapointed from day one. Read what was on the menu in the Charleston and thought this is looking good but then shown into a dining room just for the coach party. Soup or Pasta (dried not fresh), help... More

Overpriced, most unfriendly personnel ever, old interior and worn down furniture. Oh and if you are lucky to have a room near the slowest and loudest elevator in the world you are in for some sleepless nights. Never again.

We loved this hotel itself the building is opulent and the common rooms were very good. We paid to upgrade our bedroom to a superior lake view room and it was in good order . The beds were fine , the shower good and it all seemed quite fresh . The balcony was tiny ,though it had a lovely view... More

We stayed here because we couldn't get an extra night at the Grand, so we were recommended to stay at their sister hotel Regina Palace. Regina subscribes to the same old world luxury and style, even though it may not be as grand and opulent as the Grand. The rooms we booked were quite nice and actually more comfortable than... More

Just come back from a seven night stay in this hotel.Wow! The rooms are fantastic, the staff great and the food excellent. if you get the choice ask for a view of the lake as the resort is very quiet at night and the traffic will not disturb you

Booked this hotel, expecting to have a relaxing upscale retreat by Lago Maggiore. But the hotel was very disappointing for the kind of price paid. The double room was too small for two persons (no space to open the two suitcases, bath room was so small and could not move without hitting something - and we were paying over €200... More

My immediate thought when entering the hotel from the back entrance was that this had to be style over substance. Nobody could go to this much trouble to produce a masterpiece of design and craftsmanship and maintain it throughout - but they do. Some reviewers suggest that it is old-fashioned but class doesn't age and this has lots of class... More

The hotel is within walking distance to town centre and amenities, as well as the ferry pier where one can board the ferries for the Borromean islands. It may be a bit dated but it doesn't lose its charm. Very good breakfast. It's a grand dame hotel and has seen much in its lobby. The free parking is very useful.
