If, once in a while, you would like to be propelled into Il Novecento or even earlier to 1863 (the opening date of this hotel) this is the place to be. I agree with most previous reviewers, this hotel is: elegant, historic, an art gallery, a museum etc. What hasn't been said is that they have 4 bicycles that you... More

Beautiful old hotel at a prime location along Lago Maggiore. Absolutely well-kept hotel and grounds, magnificent gardens, flowers everywhere. Friendly staff, friendly spa personnel. Very comfortable giant bed, air conditioning. Unfortunately WIFI only works in certain places in the hotel. We didn't have any reception in our room on the 6th floor.

Your jaw will drop as soon as you see this hotel. There aren't many properties like this one in the world. Each floor is a art gallery. The service is good, breakfast is amazing! It's a short walk to good restaurants and shops. My only criticism is that checkout was very slow, and there was mistakes made with accounts.

An historic site with class and great food. The location is a short walk to the small village. Food in the hotel is expense but worth a treat. A delicious breakfast is included in the price of the room.

This is a special hotel situated in a very special place, facing Isola Bella and the other Borromees islands. It is an impressive building, built to be a palace. It has six flours; every flour is a different art gallery, on different subject. The hotel staff is very professional and helpful. Rooms are elegant and comfortable; food served is of... More

We spent 5 days at the GHdIB in June 2015. It is the nicest non-U.S. hotel in which we have ever stayed. The hotel is like an art museum with amazing sculptures, vases, pictures, and furnishings on all floors. The detail is everywhere. Each floor has its own period and style of decorations. By European standards, the rooms are nice-sized... More

Beautiful historic hotel with beautiful grounds. I loved the grand lobby and bar areas overlooking the lake and the galleries on each floor. Definitely worth visiting when staying in Stresa. Service at reception, concierge and breakfast was also good with attentive staff. However, I was less impressed with the room, maybe because I had a garden view on the first... More

The hotel building is beautiful and very historic .The location is also perfect looking over the lake and 10 minutes walk from Stresa along a delightful promenade walk.however I don't think the hotel is quite 5 star quality.the beds were not of the comfort level I would expect of 5 star hotels .in addition the pool area needs better service... I enjoyed three nights at this excellent hotel with a beautiful location on the dge of the lake, and very pleasnat 10 minute walk to the centre of Stressa Hotel service was truly excellent - If you enjoy modern luxury hotel this may take a little getting used to, but when you accepted the style and design it is as... Staying at this hotel is like traveling back in time. Sumptuous, luxurious and elegant. Stayed here with the family for 5 nights. Everything is going for this place with its location, charm and amenities. I don't think however it is made for families with younger children. Some residents did complain about my children, and we did feel uncomfortable at times... More
