Overall I enjoyed my stay here. The room was really quite large and had an enormous terrace area with a lovely lake view. The bathroom was also large. The common areas are really "over the top" with quite elaborate décor that made me feel like I was in a palace. The guest rooms have not been redecorated in quite some... More

Old peeling dusty tattered are a few of the thoughts I have about this hotel. Our room was next to their laundry room no view. The bed was like sleeping on a large bag of flour. Hard and lump the pillows I think were filled with straw. The poor area was nice as well as the pool service bar. The... More

Do your research! This hotel is baroque, fussy, and is evidently proud of its heritage. Might it be looking back to more glamorous times? Quite probably - it is tatty round the edges and the hotel staff not quite out of the top drawer (yakking away to each other at breakfast, occasionally charmless), but nothing too bad. It's a good... This property has to be one of the best in Italy, the service , food and decor are the very best. The rooms are a good size, great bed and bath rooms. Each room has free internet access and a supply of international power adapters. The staff try and out compete each other to attend to your every need. The Hotel... More

If you fancy reviving the early XX century travel experience, this is the place, forget the dumb Titanic exhibitions, this is the place to experience ultrakitsch rooms with acres of,heavy curtains, elaborate ceilings, old furniture, lavish bathrooms, even by Italian 5* standards with idiotic bidet, mistery cord on the wall, massage bathtub and golden fixtures everywhere. Gardens and tatty old-fashioned... More

Poor service and surly staff in the restaurant for breakfast, over run by tour groups and buses spoil olde worlde hotel. Also painful wifi service requiring you to log in all the time or not know you are not connected.

This hotel is out of the past. Extremely ornate and beautiful. Hotel is grilled with antiques. Furniture, paintings, huge marble statues, etc. Dinner is very good. Since it was late summer dinner was served on the outdoor terrace. Breakfast is included and very elaborate. Buffet. Eggs, croissants, numerous breads, cereal, fruit, etc. very nice. Thus hotel us close to the... More

Wonderful to stay at a Grand Dame hotel with exquisite detail any and every place you looked. Service was exquisite, rooms were breathtaking and grounds were vast and beautiful. Felt like a wonderful gift to give oneself.

I have been wanting to stay at this hotel for several years, ever since we first visited Stresa. We booked a family room for 4 nights, at a cost of 800 euros per night. While the property is lovely, the staff leaves a lot to be desired, as do their policies. We called the front desk to ask for glasses... More

A fantastic frontage and grand public halls full of Murano glass. A little let down by its 60's feeling swimming pool area with no sight of the spectacular views over Lake Maggiore and the Borromean Islands. Breakfast included in our stay was very good - would have been perfect if there had been a fresh omelette maker! Standard rooms a... More
