Old world charm and great service in spades. The Italians are so good at service, make the French look so dour, the waitresses took time to make my young son feel so special. Gorgeous room over looking the lake, so wonderful and great interlocking family room facilities with double door, so one side can look to signal they need some... More

We stayed at the Grand hotel for the last 3 nights and had no complaints whatsoever. Beautiful room overlooking the lake, with two balconies! Hotel is well situated just a short walk from town and boats. We had dinner on our first night, lobster salad was excellent and we particularly enjoyed the 150th anniversary prosecco. Buffet breakfast also good. Staff... More

i stayed here with my family towards the end of February. The staff were professional and welcoming. Our room was well-maintained, clean, quiet and warm. Above all, we could relax in a comfortable environment where staff where attentive but non-intrusive. The hotel overlooks the lake with panoramic views to the alps. Breakfast was included in the room rate, and was... More

I visited in February when most hotels & restaurants in the area are closed for the season. This is the hotel noted as Hemingway's inspiration while writing A Farewell to Arms and it was warm and welcoming! I was upgraded to a room with a balcony and lake view ~ breathtaking! I arrived via train from Milan Central and had... More

I think this is one of those places that does exactly as it says on the tin, as the saying goes. It is an elegant, classic, old school, Victorian five star resort hotel. The building, rooms, staff, ambience , gardens, staff, food and even the corridors are all of an incredibly high standard in a slightly old fashioned ( in... More

We stayed at this hotel in August prior to a scientific conference in Milan. This is the perfect place to de-stress in Stresa. Room facing the lake was perfect. Breath-taking view and well appointed, Marble bathroom was clean with all amenities, although I do not get the half glass partition in the shower. The room gets soaked. Breakfast was varied... More

This is a very elegant, luxurious hotel with beautiful surroundings. Located right on the Lago Maggiore, and easy access to Milan by train, and other worthwhile locations around the lakeThe staff is very proficient , helpful, and professional. Great breakfast buffet, and also a very good restaurant and bar. I would highly recommend it , even if the price is... More

I stayed at is establishment while on holiday in Italy with my family. As one enters the establishment, the gardens are beautiful. The staff, particularly the concierge are very, professional, friendly and helpful. The interior and rooms of the hotel are opulent and regal. The breakfast buffet is vast and plentifully delicious. Certainly a must hotel to stay in while... More

The Grand Hotel Des Iles Borromees is an elegant and statuesque establishment which carries its history with vigour yet where applicable and necessary is as up-to-date as yesterday! We had a beautiful short stay at this fascinating hotel with floors individually decorated with paintings and other objet d'art- at least half a day could be spent perusing the gallery which...
