The Lido Palace Hotel is a majestic grand hotel which can only be described as in a state of faded splendour. It has unrivalled views of Lake Maggiore and with a few simple touches could be a stunning hotel. Unfortunately previous comments likening it to Fawlty Towers are all too accurate. The skeleton staff do an admirable job of trying... More

Gentile Mrs Sarah, thanks for this very polite review. Although it is a pity you did not enjoy your holiday with us. I perfectly agree with you concerning the problems in the restaurant few evenings due to the fact that some staff member were unwell or away from work in august . This situation has obviously stressed the rest of... More

wonderful relaxing stay at Lido Palace Hotel, stayed for one week with my husband. Felt privilaged to have stayed in such an elegant building with helpful, friendly staff. Met some lovely people, who became friends. Very clean rooms, ours was very spacious, on the second floor with a balcony and refurbished bathroom. Breakfast was as you would expect in Italy... More

A wonderful hotel with plenty of character think of a mixture of the marigold hotel the grand budapest hotel with just a hint of faulty towers and you are there. It was very quiet when we were there which caused very little atmosphere but when its busy we're sure its wonderful. they are missing few tricks though. They don't sell... More

I agree with everything Kenneth said although we had no experience with the egg cooker as we couldn't get it to work. The toaster in the morning was a joke, we had to put our bread through the toaster at least 3 times and sometimes 4. We discussed the 4* rating with our rep. and he said it was based... More

This hotel has the most outstanding views over Lake Maggiore from the terrace, the spectacular dining room and lakeside balconies. It is a hotel of faded glory, the dining room is elegance itself with shining polished wood floors, stunning chandeliers, amazing floor to ceiling glass windows which are fully open on hot evenings with that unparalleled view over the lake.... Just returned from a stay in this hotel. If all you require from your holiday is a great view, then this is the place for you, (provided you book a room overlooking the lake and not a back room overlooking the bins and car park) However, if you prefer a hotel with pleasant staff, good service and good standard of... Delightful hotel, its like staying in a stately home, period furniture and chandeliers all very nice, and yes some areas could do with a little TLC but nothing to spoil the whole grander of the hotel. The Churchill connection is excellent. The staff are exceptional, especially Elena who seems to do everything in the restaurant. we booked a room at... More

This place is quite simply amazing, don't listen to the few spoilers and their misery guts! It has a family run charm that you just don't get in the huge chains. It was spotlessly clean and all of the staff were happy, friendly and attentive. It has the most incredible panoramic views across the lake which we enjoyed from our... More

First things first, this Hotel is situated perfectly just off the shores of Lake Maggiore. The hotel whilst a little tired in places has a warmth and charm often amiss with Hotel Chains...our room which had a balcony and lake view was just right and ticked all the right boxes......the meal of an evening whilst not to everyone's taste was... We stayed at the Lido Palace in August for two weeks. We are a family with two children age 9 and 11. The hotel is beautiful, pool lovely and food delicious. The private beach is also worth visiting. The staff were generally friendly. The hotel's situation is very good for exploring Lake Maggiorre. We found the portion sizes small at first,... More
