Stayed for three nights in late Sept, after overnight flight into Milan. Arrived there early afternoon after 1 hour train ride from Milan Central train station. Excellent, comfortable and clean room, with friendly staff. Well prepared restaurant selections and terrific breakfast. Hotel on center town square, and only a few blocks uphill from boat docks. Good location for exploring lake... More

This is one of those places we really hated to leave. Our room, on the top floor facing the plaza, included a small outdoor patio with an open skylight that provided natural light and fresh air. (If you're tall enough, you can peek out for a view of the lake and mountains.) We left the patio door open almost the... More

Despite what Rick Steves says, this place does have views. We paid a little extra for a top floor room with a fantastic pair of large windows that allowed us to watch the ferries come and go. The lift made the ascent easy, the host was very helpful and the included breakfast was the typical Italian bread and pastry collection... More

Stayed in Varenna for 4 nights. Stay here if you want quaint village, no cars, winding paths and the best restaurants on lake Como. Sole is a Lovely hotel with terrific hosts, very friendly and happy to help with any question. Not high end luxury but the village, the hosts and the food make it a wonderful stay. Eat on... More

The hotel is certainly not a luxury property, but the rooms are clean, well-kept, and very comfortable. Our room (#6) was very spacious, as it was outfitted for disabled guests (another nice part was that the hotel was completely accessible, with outfitted bathroom and a lift). The balcony over the square was a nice feature, as we could sit and... More

Two of us spent four nights at this small hotel in the triple room on the top floor, at the back of the hotel. There is a lift. The room was very spacious with a sofa bed at one end. We had two windows with a fabulous view over the lake. There was no noise at all. The room was... More

When I first arrived, I was very hot from dragging my suitcase from the station. The owner, Francesco, greeted me immediately with a smile. We began the check in and he stopped and said, "uno momento" He left and returned with an icy cold glass of sparkling water! Now that was nice. Helped me upstairs with my bag and I... More

This was our first visit to Italy and our first evening. After traveling for 18 hours, the owners of this establishment went above and beyond to help my brother and I feel welcome in Italy. We had dinner at their restaurant and they gave us a complimentary glass of Prosecco to help celebrate my brothers birthday. They spoke broken English,... More

I enjoyed the comfort and view from our room. The staff was warm and very accommodating to my requests. The included breakfast in the dining room was excellent as were the dinners available to the public in the evening. Strangely, for a small, intimate hotel of only 8 rooms, half of them had handicapped bathrooms. I am too small to comfortably... More

We had a room with balcony overlooking the town square. Nice clean room, bed with slight sag in center, but not uncomfortable. The hotel staff were very helpful, with one member spending 15 minutes online to help me with the train schedule out of Milan. A small town and everyone in this facility goes out of their way to help... More
