I initally booked a nice room in Albergo Milano prior to arrival in Varenna. A few days prior to our arrival I received an email offering us the opportunity to get a free upgrade to the penthouse of there "sister hotel" Casa Rosso (owned and operated by Albergo Milano) out of the blue. I jumped at the chance. One catch.......... More

We made reservations a year prior to make sure to get the best two rooms high on top under the hotel sign, and in front of the lake, and let me tell you that it was the best part of our tour of Italy vacation. We arrived in the last week of March, so some restaurants and shops in the... More

We stayed here on the tail end of off season. We were upgraded from on apartment to another which had a full lake view. Wow! Just what we needed. Wonderful lake views. Comfortable rooms. Great morning coffee and petite breakfast. The first evening we stayed here most places near the town center where closed. Te following evening was the awakening... More

I spent two nights in lovely Varenna during off season. It worked out for us as we were upgraded to the beautiful and spacious apartment with two bathrooms and a fantastic terrace with breathtaking views. I was there from March 2-4 and I can confirm that the town is very quiet. That was perfect for us because there was nothing... More

Arriving in Varenna on a rainy day in off season, we started our hunt for Albergo Milano. We had no directions, just an address, which seemed daunting but in the end was quite doable. The quaint hotel is nestled on a hillside overlooking Lake Como and is managed by a very pleasant couple who provide a clean and comfortable stay.... More

We had an upstairs room with a balcony facing directly out to the lake. Absolutely stunning 180 degree views. From the moment you walk through the door you are made to feel at home. The owners have done an amazing job to make this a very cozy and welcoming place to stay. Book well ahead of time as rooms are... More

We decided to stay here after seeing the main hotel on "Rick Steves Europe". When I contacted them, they said they didn't have the main hotel, but their "Casa Rossa" building. It was even better than the main building. The rooms are in a beautiful old building right on the lake. The rooms are all update inside and the bath... More

This is a beautiful place to stay and the views from the front balcony are postcard perfect. Varenna is by far less touristy and commercial than many of the other villages around Lago di Como and I highly recommend this albergo from which to base your stay. It is worth paying that little extra for a view and balcony. We... More

Great small family Alberto with Lake Como view. Best bathrooms in town. Wonderful dinner on the deck overlooking the lake. The owner's cat roams the halls. Hotel is fifty steps to the lake and other shops, restaurants , and bank.

Gorgeous views on the terrace/patio overlooking the lake and the tile roof tops. The village is beautiful and stunning. If you love photography, you will be very happy here. We stayed in one of the rooms with a private terrace & lounge chairs. Wished we would have spent more time out here because it was so nice. The bed was... More
