The hotel is down an alley completely inaccessible by car and the annex is further still, with many uneven steps down and then two sets of stairs to the rooms. No lift in the annex. The recommended drop off by the hotel is on a blind bend in a no stop zone. The car park is c.1 km away. The... More

What I Was Searching/Hoping For: It was the first stop of our honeymoon so I was hoping to find a romantic quaint town with a hotel that made us feel special. I went back and forth between Varenna, Menaggio, and Bellagio. Must haves were the location, a room with an awesome view, and nice amenities/staff to make our stay a... More

We booked this hotel on the understanding that we were staying in a double room for 4 nights. We turned up at the hotel and we were escorted (50m away) to an apartment with living room, bedroom and kitchen on two levels. The space was good to have but the apartment was basic and felt dark as it did not... More

Albergo Milano Hotel and Restaurant was the perfect place for my family of three to stay. The hotel and restaurant have an incredible view over the beautiful lakeside town of Varenna in Lake Como. The room was a bit small for our family of 3 but fine for 2 people. The management and employees were great to deal with and... More

This is a superb restaurant. The food is fabulous. The views amazing. If visiting Varenna do eat here. A very special restaurant. Or if celebrating a special occasion take the roof terrace over. They deal very well with big numbers and a high standard of food.

Albergo Milano is a family-owned, beautiful, unique property in the heart of old town Varenna with unbeatable views of the lake. Bettina and her staff are professional, courteous and go the extra mile to make your stay pleasant and memorable. We stayed in the Tre Archi apartment located a block or so down the quaint pedestrian alley from the hotel.... More

We tend to consider our holidays as one of 2 types: do nothing holidays, and doing holidays. Doing is where you are seeing sights, attractions, scenery, etc. Do Nothing is where you basically relax and don’t do much. We thought Lake Como was going to be a “doing” as we could visit various towns around the lake but we found... More

We stayed in two connecting rooms on the second floor of Casa Rossa, located 30 yards or so from the main hotel down one of the primary walking corridors in town. Be prepared to haul your luggage. Several places in town will require it to get to your rooms. One room was large and the other was average in size.... More

We ate at the restaurant last night having been recommended to go there by friends. The setting is superb and the late evening sun was great. The starters were all good, the main courses were all excellent and the puddings were fabulous. The restaurant was busy but the service was a little slower than we would have liked.

I love this place. I can't wait to come back. This is a truly fabulous place with terrific staff. Bettina and Marco went out of their way to make our stay great. We were there for dinner on the patio and the fireworks display and it was fabulous. The balcony off our room gave us a great view of the... More
