Loved the location of this hotel, we got it reasonably priced for it's location in the Citta Alta. The rooms are nice, but I would recommend requesting a balcony when you book (room 109 has a huge one!!). Breakfast is continental style and of a very good standard. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. There is no restaurant in... More

We went to San Lorenzo October 2008 and this was really a great hotel. Excellent breakfast, a nice room with a view and balcony (ask for this when you book!), nice rooms and nice staff. And the Bus No. 1 from the train station stops almost outside the hotel.

loved the location of this hotel, we got it reasonably priced for it's location in the Citta Alta. the inside of the hotel was quite nice and the staff were friendly. however, it was spoilt by the noise and dust building site on the doorstep and the noisy social gatherings under the window late at night.

A really good location promised lots but delivered little. We had asked for a room with a balcony and view. The room had a view of the building site, but the stink of stale smoke would have made us ill. We complained and were told it was a non smoking room but the previous guest must have smoked in it... Recent reviews have mentioned building noise and indeed this is evident. I did not find this a problem and was able to lie in until 9am without being unduly disturbed although the site was right outseide my window. It's a shame but the hotel is being extended and improved so in time it will become a very good venue. The... More

This hotel is in a great location in the Citta Alta part of Bergamo. It is 10 minutes pleasant walk from the main funnicular, and within a few minutes walk of several good restaurants and bars. The hotel is a little on the expensive side if you pay the full rate, but I found a very good rate including breakfast... More

Like the other recent reviews, I was stunned to arrive at the hotel and find it a construction site. The staff did move us from the first room that we were offered, which was very close to the construction, and that room was small and charmless (not a single picture on the wall, very basic furniture). The lobby was very... More

We have just returned from a two day stay at the San Lorenzo. We were really taken aback when we arrived and had to make our way along a narrow walkway above a building site with a large crane working alongside the hotel. No reference was made to this as we checked in and we were given no information about... More

We have just returned from 3 nights at San Lorenzo Hotel. Everyone considering this hotel should know that major construction work is taking place to extend the hotel and is immediately outside a large number of the rooms. This work begins as early as 7am and continues until 6pm. The noise generated by pneumatic drilling, stone cutting, rubble removal, etc.... More

The location is absolutely magnificent right in the heart of Città Alta. But for the rest the hotel is just not a 4 star and more like a 3 star hotel. The decor is dull, in spite of it being inside an old building, bathrooms are clean but dated and service is very patchy. Internet access is ridiculously high and... More
